George Teixeira Obituary

Uncasville - George Richard Teixeira, 75, passed on March 18, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Uncasville. George was born in New London on July 19, 1941, to the late Manuel Teixeira and Mary Davis. He married his beloved wife, Virginia Kovalik, on July 30, 1960, and enjoyed 57 wonderful years of marriage.

As we mourn the passing of George Teixeira we struggle to find the words to describe such a beautiful man. A man who bared his soul and opened his arms to all of us, whether friend or family.

George Teixeira was a dedicated and hardworking man in all aspects of his life. He owned and operated Sunshine Press for many years in both Montville and New London.

The passion and dedication that drove George impacted all aspects of his life. He brought it to the people around him each and every day, giving them a home, a family, or a shoulder to cry on. All who knew George can attest to the strength of his love and the depth of his heart. Even in death his legacy will live on; he will be with us in spirit, in memory, and in our hearts. Through every journey and at every crossroad he will guide us as he has always done.

George is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children, Denise Piersa and her husband, Ron, Laurie Caldwell and her husband, John, Cheryl Leone and her husband, Chuck, and Wayne Turley and his wife, Liz; his grandchildren, Wayne Turley Jr. and his wife, Janelle, Samantha Ewing and her husband, Ryan, Rachel Turley, Joseph Piersa, Jake Piersa, Tess Leone, and Maggie Leone; his Best Buddies, his great-grandchildren, Gunnar, Skye and Silas, as well as a new bundle of joy on the way; his brother, Gilbert and his wife, Elaine; along with many nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Daniel Teixeira.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Saint John's Church, 22 Maple Ave., Montville, with a reception immediately following at the Montville Polish Club, 85 Maple Ave., Montville.

Donations in his memory may be made to Turner Syndrome Society of the U.S., 11250 West Road, Suite G, Houston, TX 77065 or online at www.turnersyndrome.org by clicking the donate button.

Dear Friends,

I grew up with George in East New London. We attended Winthrop Grammar School next to the Old Town Mill. As kids, we fashioned sticks to make play guns and play all day in the College Arboretum chasing bad cowboys and Indians.Fished for Pumpkinseeds at the pond on hot summer days. We met later in life and played a few rounds of golf and reminisced about old timed.

Used to kid him about that little lisp. We graduated together in the New London High School Class of 1960. Still have my year book with his nice compliment to me.

Will never forget my buddy "Tex!"

Yours Truly,

To Ginny, DeDe, Laurie, Cheryl and their families - I'm so very sorry for your loss. George was such a kind and loving man and father. I have extremely fond memories of hanging with the Teixeira clan throughout the years and George always calling me "KB". May all your treasured family memories carry you all through this most difficult time. Wishing your family peace and healing.

Goodbye George.
I'll never forget how you and Ginny took Gilbert and I to the dances at the Gardner Lake firehouse on Saturday nights. That was the beginning of my teenage years. You had the coolest car I had ever seen at that time.
You will be missed.
