Gustav Dessaules Obituary
Gus was part of the first graduating Class of Stonington High School and shortly after, joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He was always proud to call himself a U.S. Marine. He was the owner and operator of Pawcatuck Auto Body for many years and was a master of his craft. Gus was an avid cyclist and it wasn't uncommon to see him riding down Greenhaven Road everyday on his lunch break. For those that knew, Gus was a collector of all things, but his car collection was his pride.
In addition to his wife Patricia, he leaves behind his six children: Gus, Kurt, Gretchen, Rachael, and Jeremy Dessaules and Elise Adcock (husband Joe), all of Pawcatuck; his sister Elizabeth Walker of Westerly; nine grandchildren: Jacob, Jonathan, Caitlyn, William, Tia, Lexi, Maizie, Olivia and Gavin; and several nieces and nephews. Gustav was predeceased by his daughter Erika Marie; and brother Erwin Dessaules.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce Street, Westerly. A Funeral Service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. So sorry to see that Gus has passed. Gus was a quiet voice that spoke with calm and integrity. I would see him at Westerly Yacht Club auto show and occaisonally stop at the autobody shop. He will be missed by many.

Gussie and I are grandfathers to Lexi, Maizie, Olivia and Gavin. We shared all of their birthdays and Christmasses in years past. We enjoyed all of the Fourth of July parties at Patty and Gessies home with friends and family. Gus loved his many automobiles that he restored, especially the Auburn Speedster. He was a master crsftsman not only with the cars that he workjed on but with all of the many people he met on the way through life. I will always remember Gussie for his kind and gentle ways and especially for our close and longtime friendship!
