Dear Pat,
I was sorry to learn of the passing of Herm. He was a wonderful man and a terrific friend. I remember with fondness the luncheon meetings you, Herm, Marilynn, and I had a few years back. He was such a terrific supporter of all things agriculture in Connecticut. He had the patience to visit farmers, listen to their concerns, and do everything possible to help solve their problems. He knew Connecticut farmers and was a treasure-trove of information while serving on the Selection Committee for the Century Farm Award. While I was Director of The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, he loved to drop in to see me to discuss agricultural research and needs of farmers. He was extremely proud and supportive of the University of Connecticut, particularly the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He loved his garden and was most happy to share his produce with friends. He was a devoted family man and loved you dearly, Pat. The two of you were a terrific team! I shall miss him.
With sympathies,
John F. Anderson

Dear Pat and Family,

We share your great loss. We will always remember the many lunches and get togethers to share view points on agriculture and to discuss progress at UConn and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. You and members of your Family have been among the best supporters we had while and after I was Dean of the College. Herm and you have left an enduring strength to the Cooperative Extension System with your dedicated support for 4-H Youth as well as other programs. We will truly miss Herm and his advice and assistance. Your gifts of potatoes and home maid bread add to the best of memories we have.

With Great Sympathies,
Kirk and Ann Kerr

Dear Weingart Family, it has been many years since we have had contact but I want to add my condolences to all the others you receive from people who admired all that he did for our community and our state. He was an amazing person. He was a very good friend of my late husband as they did many community and political events together years ago. I know he will be sincerely missed by all. May good memories comfort you in this difficult time. God bless your family.

Dearest Pat and Family:
Herm was and will be remembered as quite a character in my life. He'd jump all over me from the audience when I was publicly speaking --but afterwards, drag me in a corner and, in private, tell me to defend my points and how to do better next time. So Herm. I really got to see him in action and truly love his passion for all things dear to him at UCONN College of Ag Alum Association meetings. And, towards the end, I knew we'd have to carry on for him. He was right. Herm fought for what he believed in. And more importantly, he supported what he believed in. He wasn't just a talker, he was a doer. He served. He attended. He donated. He purchased. I will miss his finger wagging in my face, his pearls of wisdom, the soft side of Herm, that big old marshmallow, and his presence at all things UCONN College of Ag. Please accept my sincere condolences. I'm going to try like crazy to catch second half of his service. I am keeping you, Pat, and your dear family in my prayers in the interim. In honor of Herm, I am going to sign my kids up to work at fundraisers for UCONN-Pharmacy and Manchester Commuity College-Computer Science. Feel the love.

Dearest Patricia, it has been many many years, since we last met and most likely at a 4-H gathering. I know you married Herman and now I also realize that you were also a wonderfully devoted wife and mother to your children.

Herm taught us all a lot over the years.

He gave us good advise at farm bureau meetings,
and was truly a wonderful fried to all.

To the entire Weingart family, we send out deepest sympathies for the huge loss in your lives. We taught with Herm for a short time in the l960's at Lyman Memorial H.S. in Lebanon, and witnessed first hand his devotion to the students, the school, and agriculture. My family also has a deep friendship with the Hensons. We are so sorry for your profound loss.

Dear Weingart Family, My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. I have many fond memories of the Hensons and Pat and family through the years...memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, and the things you never want to lose...as Herm and Pat comforted me in '05...I repeat their words: "...we hope someday the happy memories will be the first to come to mind when someone says "Stu"...and say a prayer that all the love around you makes a warm resting place whenever you need it." I am now sending the Weingart's comforting words to each you at this time, as you and many will have many happy memories of "Herm." God Bless!
