Janet Staggs Obituary

Montville - Janet Rose (Politowicz) Craddock Staggs, 71, our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was called home and entered her eternal rest on May 29, 2011.

She is survived by her husband, William L. Staggs. They were united in marriage on Dec 13, 1964, in Alabama.

She was born on April 19, 1940, at The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich to Alexander and Wanda (Radzvilowicz) Politowicz. She attended NFA in Norwich and received her GED from Montville High School in 1991. Janet made her home in Montville for 47 years. She enjoyed sewing, craft projects, floral arrangements, crocheting, gardening, making modge podge ceramic cats, traveling, but most of all, she enjoyed her grandchildren.

Over the years she worked part time at the Mohegan Flower Shop, MLS Listings, and sold modge podge ceramic cats at craft shows. She volunteered her time and worked with the Montville Youth Cheerleaders in 1985 and 1986 and belonged to the Norwich Ten Pin Wednesday League for over 20 years. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother.

She leaves her children, Terry (Craddock) Wydra and her husband, Adam, of Norwich, Larry Craddock and his wife, Lauren, of Englewood, Fla., and Gerry Staggs and his wife, Anna, of Montville; brother, Alexander Politowicz and his wife, Phyllis; her beloved grandchildren, Tiffanie Wydra and her fiancé, Tim Olson, Jason, Christopher, and Adam Wydra, Kathlene Craddock, Nycki Craddock Yates and her husband, Blair, Vanessa, Cherie, and Roselyn Staggs; great-grandchildren, Lilli Wydra and Benjamin Yates; and several nieces and nephews. Dear Bill and Family, I do not know many things with certainty. I know that Jan loved you all with a fierceness that was, at times, breath taking. I know she lived a full and joyful life. She had a gift of bring laughter to people. She was stubborn and prideful, but in the end she was usually right. Her devotion to her family should be remembered above all things. I wish each of you peace, love and light, always.
