I recall meeting Jennie back around 1983 in Groton; Eastern Point. She was walking along the street on a soft warm day. I was on my porch and had stepped out onto the front lawn. She did not know me from Adam yet had a 1,000-watt smile and said hello. We struck up a conversation. She was easy to talk with, charming (and very pretty!).
Alas our ages were .. not compatible at the time I'll just say (I was ~ 25 at the time). If they had been closer together..
If my memory serves me, she had been in a small town in Michigan; Sebewaing, and moved to a nearby neighborhood. She wrote me a letter (which I still have) from there when she visited (likely on vacation).
I hadn't seen her in a long time when I bumped into her (literally) at The Hygienic back around '18 or so. We caught up, swapped stories; she said she was hairdressing locally.
Jennie was a gal who could fix a rainy day. We were FB friends; I regret that I could not attend her service. When I learned of her passing my heart wound up in my boots. She loved animals, she loved life. The world is a better place for her having lived in it; a sadder place for her having departed it. I've thought of her countless times. I only wish I'd invested more time with her (time with Jennie was not spent - it was invested). Rest in peace my dear; see you on the flipside.
