Following high school graduation, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country, including several West Pacific deployments aboard the USS Sterett. He retired from the Navy after 22 years of service, and went on to run his own successful business for 23 years.

Jerry had many interests and hobbies. Following his second retirement, he enjoyed keeping busy with a variety of part-time jobs. These included Mystic Seaport's Sabino Steamboat tour guide, surveyor during the construction of hotels at the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos, TSA Agent at Bradley International Airport and as a parking enforcement agent in New London, where he was fondly dubbed "Chalk Man."

Jerry devoted much of his free time volunteering in his community at Mystic Seaport, at the Retired Activities Office on the Naval Submarine Base, as a member of the Ledyard Cemetery Committee, a member of Ledyard VFW Post 4608 and a member of the Gales Ferry Fire Company, serving as fire police chief and emergency medical responder.

I have lost a good friend. Jerry and I went to P.S 113 in Glendale & Queens N.Y. in 1948. We were good school pals. Graduated in 1954. Jerry went to Richmond Hill High and I went to Aviation Tech. We lost touch and one day on our old school page on the internet, we renewed our friendship and kept in touch. Jerry and Linda came to visit us in New York and New Hampshire. Great times. Just too short too fast. He will be missed sadly but will always be remembered. Our hearts go out to his family with love and prayers.

I had the pleasure of working with Jerry for four or five seasons aboard the Sabino at Mystic Seaport. I enjoyed his company.

I was so sorry to hear of this Linda. I treasure our last 4 way conversation we had at Dan's birthday celebration at the firehouse. We have both lost part of our hearts. My condolences to your entire family.

I remember meeting Mr. Trotta when his youngest son invited me to his home. I was immediately taken with Mr. Trotta's witty and charming demeanor as he welcomed me into his home for dinner. He shared a delightful story of how he met his charming and beautiful wife, Every visit to their home was an adventure, full of joy and laughter that I looked forward to having every time I visited. Thank you, Mr.Trotta. You will always be here in our hearts. L.Ross
