Joe Boutin

1965 - 2024

Largo, Fla. - Joe Boutin passed away Nov. 12, 2024, at his home in Largo, Fla., with his love muffin Beth Gilbert and his children by his side. He was born January 29, 1965 in Stonington, CT to the late Hilda and Bob Boutin. One of nine children, he is survived by his sisters: Linda Lastella, Laura Ray (David), Lisa Marciniak (Tony) and Luanne Deer (Shawn); and his brothers, David Boutin (Adele) and Bill Boutin (Margaret). He was predeceased by his brothers, Bobby and Phil Boutin; and brother-in-law Ron Lastella. Joe is also survived by his children: Brett Meeks, Shana Boutin, River Boutin, Mark Reynolds (Gina), Ryan Gilbert (Tyler), Randy Gilbert (Sydney), Raven Gilbert (Maya), Amanda Williams (Mario) and Cevanna Gilbert. Joe was the beloved Pajoe to 15 grandchildren; and adored by his many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Southeast Tech in 1983, he went to work for Boutin Drilling and Blasting, and later for several construction companies in Connecticut and Grand Caymen. In 2004, he moved with his family to Florida, where he worked for West Coast Foundation. Joe was an avid sportsman and was a former member of the Groton Sportsman's Club and, until his death, a Ranger officer for the Wyoming Antelope Club.

His life partner Beth said it best, "Joe loved BIG. Our kids and grandkids called him PaJoe. He adored everything about them and spent as much time as he could with them." And, "If you needed help, you could always count on Joe. I never knew him to turn anyone away. He made the best damn chili and bragged about it being award winning."

There will be a Celebration of his Life from 3 to 6 p.m., Feb. 22, at the Elks Lodge, 1 Dixon Street, Westerly, R.I.
