Joshua Eudy Obituary
A lifelong Connecticut resident, Josh grew up in Gales Ferry and attended Ledyard High School. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2002 Magna Cum Laude in history and earned his master's degree in education. He was a teacher of U.S. history at Waterford High School, where he also coached the girl's volleyball team. He loved working at Waterford High, and the school community loved him back.
"The race is not to the swift, but to those who keep on running" was a favorite saying of Josh's, and his life demonstrated it.
Josh was known for his hard work and perseverance, integrity, love for God and family. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, motorcycle riding and, of course, playing and coaching volleyball. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Rena; parents, Steve and Gita Eudy of Ledyard; sister, Liz Eudy of Ledyard; his father and mother-in-law, Drs. Tom and Ingrid Burbey of Virginia; brother-in-law, Ryan Burbey of Virginia; sister and brother-in-law, Ariel and James Scheiner of Denver; and Josh's lifelong brother-friend, Jeff Brewer.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, Waterford High School Auditorium,.

I am blessed for having the privilege of being Josh's nurse for a brief period of time. I have never seen such selflessness, courage and faith. I, too, was having a difficult time in my life. Seeing how Josh and his wife and family dealt with their struggles with so much grace gave me strength to keep on going. Thank you for the note, and the gift, and so much more that you have given me. To the Eudy Family, we never met Josh but felt we know him through our son. He told us what a faith filled man Josh was and also what a wonderful teacher he was. We have been praying for Josh and his family though these difficult times and will continue to pray for all of you who are missing him so much. He is in God's Arms now but he will always be in the hearts of those who loved him. May God Bless you all and give you the comfort and peace you need.

Tenacious.
That's the word that comes to mind as I think of you, Josh.
It means "holding fast." And that's what you did, Josh. First with Jesus; next with your school and career goals; and finally with Rena.
Many are tenacious for wrong things... things we can't take with us. But you chose the right things to hold fast. In so doing, you lived well and were a blessing to others. In a world of entitlement and consumerism, you produced, because you were grounded on stuff that matters...stuff that you can and did take with you.
When we first met, I was a big brother and a teacher to you. Now the tables are turned. You've gone further than me. You've raised the bar, both for me and many other lives you've touched.
Thanks for being such a blessing to us. As you've held fast the important things, we will hold you and your example in the highest regard.
I love you, friend.

We were so sorry to hear about the death of Josh. He was always so full of life and fun to be around. I remember when he joined our pub trivia team many years back, and it was the first (and only?) time we ever won!

Our family was lucky enough to have met Josh when he was my oldest daughters Velocity volleyball coach. He was a quiet man. But always had a smile as well as words of encouragement. Most recently, thru Rena's blog, we learned a little more about this amazing young man. He has left quite a legacy in his short, too short, life. May his students, players, friends and family ALWAYS keep Josh in their hearts. And may he rest, pain free, in the arms of The Lord.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am so happy to know that Jesus was his greatest treasure and that he is experiencing joy in His presence now and will experience pleasures forevermore (Ps. 16.11). I have such fond memories of our years of friendship in the 1980s before I moved to Maryland, when Joshua and Liz were just little children. I cannot even mention all the times my daughter Sara Silva would come home from school and share a story about her day in class with Mr. Eudy from what they were learning to all the fun they had doing it as well. He was such a positive influence on my daughter who graduated in 2011 from WHS. What a wonderful teacher he was and person! I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Rena,
I am a math teacher at Waterford High School. My class room was right next to Josh's in the old school for many years. Being old enough to be his mother, I always admired Josh for being the type of person with the values and integrity of someone from my generation. It was refreshing. Last year, Josh used my room for one class and I was able to experience his exceptional teaching skills which only added to my admiration for him. It is only fitting that an angel like Josh would leave this word on Christmas day. He will be missed by all. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
