Katherine Helme

Chesapeake, Va. - It is with immense sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Katherine Morton Helme. Katherine entered eternal rest Nov. 25, 2025, at the age of 73.

Born July 4, 1952, Katherine lived a life characterized by deep love, enduring strength, and a nurturing spirit that touched all who knew her. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to her family were the cornerstones of her existence, leaving an indelible mark on our lives and in our hearts.

Katherine leaves behind a cherished legacy through her devoted children: Katurena Rogers and her husband Jason, Kenneth Helme Jr. and his wife Laura, and Kameron Helme. She was also the proud and loving grandmother to Ciera and Courtney Cheatam, Jadalyn and Natalie Helme, and the adoring great-grandmother to Cassius, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She is survived by a sister, Peggy Dillon; and a host of nieces and nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James and Willie Mae Morton; and her siblings, Clinton Morton, Harvey Morton, James R. "Benny" Morton, Karen Morton and Jeanette Morton, all of whom she held dear in her memory.

A memorial service to celebrate Katherine's extraordinary life and legacy will be announced at a later date. We will share details regarding the service arrangements with family and friends once they have been finalized.
