Waterford - Katherine T. (Kelly) MacDougall died Tuesday June 8, 2021.

She was born Sept. 5, 1931, to Robert and Catherine (Garvey) Kelly in New London.

She was a graduate of St. Mary's School, the former Williams Memorial Institute high school of New London, and she graduated top of her class at the former Joseph Lawrence School of Nursing of New London.

She married Everett B. MacDougall Aug. 4, 1962, at St. Mary's Church in New London. They lived in Waterford. He preceded her in death in April 2015.

She received her R.N. license and worked at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for 35 years as the head of the I.V. department. Her caring nature and selfless devotion to helping others is alive in all the lives she touched, which are almost uncountable. Her strong faith was a driving force in her life and the center of what she did and who she was.

She is survived by her brother, James Kelly and his wife Dorothy of Uncasville; two sons, Michael of Waterford and James and his wife Lisa of Waterford; a daughter Mary Murphy and her husband Michael of East Lyme; five grandchildren, (who she absolutely, adored and cherished), Nolan, Katherine, Sarah, Megan and Matthew.

She was also predeceased by a sister, Peg; and two brothers, Tommy and Bobby.

The MacDougall family would like to thank all the kindhearted people that helped with her care. The love and caring that they showed will not be forgotten.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Katherine was a beautiful soul that touched us while both my parents were in Pendleton Nursing Home. After my parents had both passed I would run into her shopping and she was always so loving and thoughtful! I will always remember her with love in my heart!

My heart goes out to all of you! I will truly miss the chats we had at the bakery. Especially our Red Sox Yankee chatter. Your mom was a wonderful loving mom and grandmother. My sincere condolences to all of you.
