Katherine Reyes

1988 - 2024

New London - Born Aug. 21, 1988, in New London, Katherine Reyes made her final transition to be with our Lord and Savior June 22, 2024, due to a spontaneous brain bleed. While her transition may be sudden, her love and legacy is enduring. Katherine was born to Felix and Jacqueline Reyes Jr. at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

A lifetime resident of New London, she attended CB Jennings Elementary school, Isaac's Middle School and graduated from Ledyard High School in 2006. She later attended Three Rivers College and used the skills she acquired there towards her first job as a CNA at StoneRidge Senior Living Community in Mystic. Her latest position at Citizens Bank, allowed her to fulfill her passion of serving her community and building strong community relationships.

Katherine, a dedicated and loving parent, became mother to Elijah Arias in 2011, and Izaiah Arias in 2015. She continued to serve her community and support her sons through her involvement with New London Youth Football and New London Little League programs. It was during this time she met and shared her life with long-time companion, Marvin Mouzon, of Bridgeport. Those who knew her, knew of her big heart, giving nature, and quick wit. Whether you needed a hug or a good joke, Katherine was the person you wanted around.

She is predeceased by her grandparents, Carlos Ortiz, Antonia Mateo and Felix Reyes Sr.; her aunt Olga Galarza; and uncles, David Reyes and Edwin Reyes. She is survived by her parents, Felix and Jacqueline Reyes Jr.; sons, Elijah Arias and Izaiah Arias; siblings, Janelle Colon Marmolejos, Felix Joel Reyes and Nora Castro; sister-in-law Katherine Reyes; and brother-in-law Jose Marmolejos; several aunts and uncles; and dozens of cousins.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Citizens Bank, New London first responders and L+M Yale and Yale New Haven Hospital staff for the excellent and immediate care they have given during this difficult time. Calling hours are from 5 to 6 p.m. with church service at 6 p.m. Monday, July 1, at Miracle Temple Church, 45 Broad Street, New London. Motorcade escort at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, from the Thomas L. Nelian & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Avenue, to Cedar Grove Cemetery, 638 Broad Street, New London. For services on both days, the family requests attendees not to wear black but colorful clothing to celebrate Katherine's life.
