Kenneth Brown Obituary

Mystic - Kenneth D. Brown Jr., 93, of Mystic died Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at Avalon Healthcare Center. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Brown.

Ken was born Dec. 29, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of Kenneth and Martha Brown, and grew up in Falls Church, Va.

After graduating high school, Ken served in the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. After being discharged, he attended the University of Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Ken began his civilian career at Electric Boat, advancing over 33 years to become Vice President of Operations. After retiring from EB, Ken went on to build up and manage Pequot River Shipworks, producing fast ferries for the Mashantucket Pequots.

Avid boaters, Ken and his wife Carol had many adventures, including many charters to the Virgin Islands. When boating was no longer possible, Ken's creative passion became building motorized boat models.

In addition to Carol, his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his children. They include Debbie James and her husband Ted, Tommy Brown, Kathie Lincoln, Kimberley Lincoln, and Matt Lincoln and his wife Barbara; as well as eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ken was predeceased by his grandson, Ryan Lincoln.

All services will be private for the family per Ken's wishes.

Ken was a close friend to my late wife and me, and a companion on many journeys with our "EB Gang". He was also a major contributor to Electric Boat´s well earned legacy as a GREAT shipbuilder.
Few know that Ken took a hit at the pinnacle of his career for a waterfront problem not of his making. Never one to point fingers, Ken quietly absorbed the hit and moved on to successfully run a nearby
shipyard, hiring many of his laid-off shipbuilders during the end of The Cold War.
Ken was devoted to Carol and their families. He was one of a kind and anyone who knew him was the better for it.

Ken and Carol were good friends of my father Jim Coney for many years from working at EB. They were even neighbors at a retirement community. I am sorry for his passing Carol and family. He was a very kind gentleman.
