Kevin Sullivan Obituary

New London - Kevin James Sullivan, 57, of New London, died Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Bayview Healthcare. He was born in New London Sept. 13, 1967, the son of George and Helen Kleban Sullivan.

Kevin received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Connecticut May 19, 1992. He then used his degree to work in several local group homes to take care of those who needed him. He was an avid New York sports fan and loved watching the New York Knicks, Giants and New York Mets.

He is survived by his former wife Kimberly Sullivan; his son Cian Sullivan, both of Gales Ferry; two brothers, Thomas Sullivan of Atlantic Beach, Fla., and Scott Sullivan of New London; and two sisters, Karen Greika of New London, and his twin, Kim Eldridge of Pasadena, Md.

To my former husband: I remember the day that we decided to get married

I remember wanting to shout it to the sky

I remember the first time our child, I carried

I remember wiping a tear from my eye

I just woke up from a dream, where you and I had to say goodbye,

and I don't know what it means, but since I survived, I realized wherever you go, that's where I'll follow. Nobody is promised tomorrow, so I'm going to love you every night like it's the last night; and if the world were ending, I want to be next to you and I want to hold you for a while and die with a smile. Wherever you go, I want to be next to you, right next to you. Thank you for bringing me such joy and love through our son, Cian. Love you always, Kim.

To my Dad, from Your "CHAMP" Cian:

Dad was a wonderful and dedicated father. There wasn't a day that went by that he didn't call me and tell me how much he loved me. He never stopped loving me with all his heart. A father like you was rare, one who's so generous, smart, and kind. A father like you was what everyone needs, full of smiles and laughter, always doing fun things with me, like fishing, hiking, and playing sports with me. Nothing can replace a father like you, but when you get to Heaven, GOD will be lucky to have you, too. Dad, you are in my thoughts and prayers every single day. I cannot put into words how much I will miss you, but I know that you are going to a place much better than here, where you will be treated like the angel that you are!

To my twin, my best friend, my better half, and my beach buddy:

In Loving Memory of My Brother

I thought of you today,

But that is nothing new.

I thought of you yesterday,

And will tomorrow too.

I think of you in silence,

And make no outward show.

For what it meant to lose you,

Only those who love you know.

Remembering you is easy,

I do it every day.

It's the heartache of losing you,

That will never go away.

To my dearest Brother, Love Karen:

We little knew the day that God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone.

For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories. Your love is still our guide,

And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same,

but as God calls us one by one the chain will link again.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Avenue, New London. Dear. Kim,Scott,Karen, and the entire Sullivan family. I'm so sorry for your loss. Neechie and I grew up together in the same neighborhood and would play endless amounts of basketball at the old Mercer field Hoop courts. The best part of the day was always the walk home needling each other along with trying to make the other one laugh the hardest. (It was always a draw!) :) Neechie and I attended NLJH together and graduated from The New London High School as well! Neechie was an extraordinary friend. The best part about my friend Neech, he was loyal, kind, and a GREAT WHALER! This is not a goodbye old friend. Until we meet again, keep those hoop courts open! cheers old boy... Please accept my deepest condolences....Paul Pescatello (A proud member of the class of 1986!) Go Whalers!

Neechie and I graduated high school together. He was a force on the basketball court. Off the court he was deeply kind.

I send love to Scott and all Neechie´s family and loved ones.
