Kyle Seidel Obituary

Waterford - Kyle Christopher Seidel, 34, of Waterford, was taken away suddenly on Dec. 21, 2012.

Kyle was the second son born to Richard and Darlene (Jello) Seidel of Waterford, on April 17, 1978. Growing up no one could deny that the bond between Kyle and his mother was unbreakable. Kyle and his older brother, Jeremy Seidel, grew up primarily in the Giants Neck area of East Lyme. Kyle graduated from East Lyme High School in 1996.

In 2001, Kyle met the love of his life, Kate Cioci. On April 26, 2003, they were married surrounded by friends and family. While living in Waterford, they started a family with the birth of a beautiful daughter they named Samantha Renee. Soon to follow came a second daughter, a bundle of energy they named Maya Michelle, who complimented Samantha's laid back approach to life. Kyle's girls were the apple of his eye, and, in turn, Daddy meant the world to them. Some years later, Kyle's family of four welcomed a son, Jesse Christopher, with joy and excitement. With the strong bond he had with his girls, the addition of a son made their family of five complete.

That is Kyle's short biography, but who he was as a person goes beyond the scope of an obituary. Kyle, to the core of his soul, was a simple man who loved Chevy trucks and everything having to do with the outdoors. His sense of humor, common sense, cooking skills, and love of animals were some of the many instruments in Kyle's toolbox. His love for his family goes beyond words. His strong work ethic at Essex Island Marina allowed him to demonstrate his skills as a crane operator, dock builder, and a general jack of all trades. Always striving to do his best, "Do it right or don't do it all", was one of his favorite sayings.

His second passion in life was his love for the ocean. Fishing was his favorite pastime. His dream came true this summer when he purchased the perfect boat that complimented both of his passions, his family and fishing. He loved to share his passion of fishing with the next generation of Seidels. He often took his nephew, Devon Seidel, out on fishing trips, and he was looking forward to the summers to come when he could pass his passion on to his only son Jesse.

In addition to his loving wife and three children, Kyle is survived by his parents, Richard and Darlene (Jello) Seidel of Waterford; brother, Jeremy and his wife, Monica Seidel, of Waterford; in-laws, Howard and Diane Cioci of East Lyme; sister-in-law, Kristy (Cioci) Donahue and husband, Erik Donahue, of Waterford; and nieces and nephews, Devon and Halie Seidel, Alec, Natalie, Adrianna, and Luke Donahue. Kyle is also survived by his uncle, John Seidel and family and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as many friends.

All services for Kyle will be private for family members only.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cioci-Seidel Children's Fund, c/o Chelsea Groton Bank/Anne Ogden, 157 Boston Post Road, Waterford, CT 06385.

The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Not sure what to say?

My condolences to the Seidel family. Growing up with Kyle is one of my fondest memories. Being in North Dakota has made it very difficult to keep in touch with so many friends. Kyle made sure that he kept in touch with me. He was a true friend. When we spoke on the phone he always spoke so highly of his wife and children. I'm so sorry for your loss. For everyone's loss. We all loved him so much. My prayers are with you all.

Howie, Diane, Kate and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. We can't even imagine how deeply affected you are by this tragic loss. May you find comfort and peace in the love of your family, and also in the fact of knowing that Kyle now lives with the angels, and will be watching over each and every one of you. We know how much he was loved by you all.

Howie, Diane, Kate and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. May you find comfort and peace as you surround yourself with your loving family. May you also find "some" comfort in knowing Kyle now lives with the angels. He will be watching over you. We know how much he was loved by all of you, in fact, the last time we were together was at the Essex Island Marina having breakfast, which is where Kyle had recently gotten a job, and Diane mentioned how much she loved Kyle three or four times that morning.

Sailors pray,
For fair winds and a following sea

The smell of salt in the air,
The feel of their skin as it's touched by the spray

An albatross soaring above,
Dolphins in the ship's wake at play

To witness a work of art that only God can create,
The sunset at the end of day

At night a million stars in the sky,
Safe anchorage in an islands lee

When the time comes to die as for all it must,
To awake in Sailors Heaven where nothing ever rusts

And always there would be,
Fair winds and a following sea
