Lila Savage Obituary
She was born June 6, 1972, in Lowell, Mass. Lila had lived in Voluntown since 2001. She was a 1991 graduate of Montville High School. Lila was employed as a home health aide for The William W. Backus Hospital, and was well known for her compassion and doing special things for the residents of Mystic River Group Home and other clients throughout the area. She enjoyed baking cakes and was known for Lila's cookies.
Besides her husband, she leaves her parents, Dominic Caristo and his wife, Joan, of Niantic, Linda (Staubley) Anderson and her husband, James, of Kent; her daughter, Annika M. Savage of Voluntown; a stepson, Merton W. Savage of Voluntown; a stepdaughter, Desiree Chasse of Colchester; her sister, Katy Caristo-Scalora and her husband, Josh Scalora, and their children, Nico and Gianna of Niantic; her grandmother Helen Rocheleau; longtime friend, Terry Baxter; and her beloved dog, Howie; also numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visiting hours are 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home, 595 Norwich Road, Plainfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Annika Savage Education Fund, c/o Putnam Bank, 461 Voluntown Road, Griswold, CT 06351.

John, Annika and family:
I worked with Lila for the last 5 years here at Mystic River and I want to say how much we cared for her and I know how much she cared about her "guys" here. She was a lovely woman, so warm and caring, beautiful inside and out. She touched all of us in a way that many people never experience.
Annika, your mom loved you so much, you were her world. She and I would have lunch each day and she would always talk about you. She most certainly has a special place in heaven. Please know that we all loved her too.

I was utterly shocked to hear of Lila's sudden passing. It is a huge loss to all who knew her, especially those who loved her the most, and whom she loved the most, her family. Lila was a gift here on earth, she was kind and sweet and caring. I am very very glad that I had the honor of knowing and working with Lila, what a tremendous loss to all. I am sure somewhere up in heaven, Lila is smiling and helping the angels clean their room and take a shower:) Love to you Lila and blessings to all her family.

I remember working with Lila---such a kind, soft hearted, compassionate person. I worked closely with her mom, Linda, at one time, too. Lila had many of her mom's attributes. Lila will be missed.

My heart goes out to you and your family. It is not easy to lose a loved one especially your first born. I was told by a dear close friend several years ago, that we are just on loan here on earth, until the task the Good Lord gave us is done. I don't know what Lila's task was, but the Lord decided that it was time for her to return home to Him. Now lyou have your very special angel watching over you at all time. To Annika and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom/Wife/Daughter/Sister. Lila was far beyond a special person. Always a smile on her face and her precious best friend, Annika at her side. She was unpretentious and totally down to earth. Last summer was amazing watching her and Annika kite flying, swimming, walking on the beach and getting all the "good" shells from the tide pools. Obviously God needed the most special person he could find here on earth to join him, and he didn't need to look any further than Lila. Our loss is heavens gain. Annika, please know that your Mom will always be watching over you and some day you will all be together again. Let all your wonderful memories live on in your heart, and know there are many people who love you and are thinking of you.
