Linda A. Serra

Westerly, R.I. - Linda A. (Melaragno) Serra passed away peacefully at home Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, after several years of declining health.

Linda was the second of three children of Manrico R. and Marie Melaragno. She attended local schools and graduated from Stonington High School before earning a degree in psychology and elementary education from the University of Rhode Island.

On June 29, 1968, Linda married Dr. Ronald J. Serra, with whom she built a marriage, life, and partnership of 57 years, anchored in deep devotion to one another.

Linda was the proud and devoted mother of two sons, Jason R. Serra (Katherine) of Westerly, and Gregory P. Serra (Alison) of Burlington, Mass. Before focusing on her family, she taught first grade in Brookline, Mass., and at Bradford and Dunn's Corners Elementary Schools in Westerly. She later served as finance manager for her husband's optometry practice, Coastal Eye Associates.

She was an adoring and loving grandmother to her three grandsons: Cody P. Serra,

Dustin J. Serra, and Logan J. Serra.

In addition to her husband, sons, and grandsons, Linda is survived by her brother, Robert R. Melaragno of Naples, Fla.; and her friend and sister, Elaine M. Boissevain (Robert) of North Stonington. She was a much-loved and devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews, a treasured cousin in a large extended family, and a caring, supportive sister-in-law.

Linda will be remembered for her loyalty, generosity, and deep empathy - always ready with a listening ear and a thoughtful word. Her engaging smile and luminous eyes revealed her love for her family, and for the sand and sea. She will be greatly missed.

Arrangements are in the care of Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home; visiting hours are respectfully omitted. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 16, at St. Clare Church, 4 St. Clare Way, Misquamicut, R.I. Interment will be private.
