Lois Vymola Obituary
Lakeland, Fla. - Lois Lucille Vymola, 97, of Lakeland, Fla., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Oct. 29, 2025. Born in Groton, in 1928, Lois was a proud graduate of Fitch Senior High School and spent much of her life along the beautiful Connecticut shoreline she loved so dearly.
A devoted follower of Christ, Lois's favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 41:13 "For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee." Her faith was her foundation and her comfort throughout her long and full life.
Lois retired from Pfizer and was an active member of the Shennecossett Yacht Club in Groton for many years. She loved boating, the beach and hosting family gatherings for holidays and special occasions.
After retirement, she and her beloved husband, William "Bill" Vymola, who predeceased her in June 2003, enjoyed many years as snowbirds, spending their winters on beautiful Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce, Fla. Lois enjoyed many years of a vibrant social life as part of the Colonnades community and was a member of the Fort Pierce Yacht Club, Red Hats and Prayer Group among many other activities she loved to do with her dear friends. Eventually, Lois made Florida her permanent home and in 2022, she moved to Lakeland to be cared for by her granddaughter and thrived at her new home at Hawthorne Inn. She was an active resident participating in all the activities they had to offer including lunch bunch, arts and crafts and all of the social and holiday events they offer. Her warmth, humor and gracious spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Vymola; and her sons, James Reedy and Michael Reedy. She is survived by her daughter Victoria Damaschi (predeceased by her husband Robert); granddaughter Corinne (Joe) Monfette; and great-granddaughter Grace; also grandson Michael (Amanda) Reedy; great-grandson Luca; and granddaughter Amanda (Matthew) Baxter. She is also survived by her granddaughter Heather (Adam) Hudson, who lovingly cared for Lois in her later years; and great-granddaughter Celeste Courtney and great-grandson Christian Hudson, who shared a special bond with his "Gram", especially during their trips to Dairy Queen for hot fudge sundaes – one of her favorite treats!
Lois's life was a reflection of the love of Christ – steadfast, generous and full of grace. Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord.
A celebration of Lois's life will be held at Cleveland Heights Baptist Church in Lakeland, Fla., Friday, Dec. 12. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lighthouse Ministries in Lois's honor, reflecting her lifelong faith and love for helping others.
