Louise Davis Obituary

Waterford - Louise Carolyn Davis, 91, passed away peacefully Oct. 20, 2025 at Bride Brook Rehabilitation Center. She was born Feb. 25, 1934, to Leon and Nellie Adams in Shamokin, Pa.

A graduate of Shamokin High School, Louise continued her education at York College, School of Nursing, where she earned her degree as a registered nurse. She dedicated 12 years of her career to Sunbury Community Hospital, providing compassionate care to her patients. Following her marriage, she worked for two more years at Hershey Hospital in Hershey, Pa.

In 1974, Louise and her husband, Gomer, moved to Waterford, where he was employed at the Millstone Nuclear Power Station. In 1977, they joined Niantic Community Church, where Louise was an active and dedicated member involved in many church activities.

Louise loved the Connecticut Shoreline, where she found peace and joy in its simple pleasures. She loved attending football and baseball games, cheering for her sons with pride. A devoted UConn Huskies Women's Basketball fan, she faithfully followed every season and seldom missed a game. Louise enjoyed spending time at Pleasure Beach, going fishing with her husband, and traveling and camping with her family throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Among her fondest memories was a treasured vacation to Hawaii.

Louise was a devoted wife of 58 years, a caring mother, and above all, a loving Nanna to her three grandchildren. She adored her cocker spaniels, Taffy and Checkers. She was known for her gracious hospitality to family and friends and made the best homemade cookies during the holidays. Although she endured several health issues in later years, she retained a positive outlook on life.

Louise is survived by her devoted husband, Gomer Davis; her beloved sons, Chip

(Sarah) Davis and Jeff (Michelle) Davis; and her cherished grandchildren, Hayley, Luke and Mackensey. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Nellie Adams; and her brothers, William Adams and Robert Adams.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family.

A Wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at the Neilan Funeral Home in East Lyme. Graveside burial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Jordan Cemetery, Boston Post Road, Waterford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Niantic Community Church, Niantic.
