Marion E. Holeman

1927 - 2017

New London - Marion E. (Lancaster) Holeman, 90, of New London, wife of Wallace A. Holeman Sr., entered eternal rest Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

She was born in New London, to the late Richard and Dorothy (Conners) Lancaster. Marion was a lifetime member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she served on the usher board and sang in the gospel choir. She was also a proud member of the Elks, Eastern Stars and the Heroines of Jericho. She was employed at Sheffield and Bradlees, later retiring from both.

Marion loved everyone. She had a special unconditional love for her family and friends. She truly enjoyed those who would stop by to see her at her home and the nursing home. The phone calls she received always made her day. A special thank you to Myrlande Dor who did a wonderful job taking care of Marion 24/7.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Mark S. Holeman Sr. of New London; four daughters, Sharon L. Holeman of Groton, Julie A. Drayton and Marsha Fussell (Marvin), both of New London and Denise McGuire of Florida; one sister, Louise "Weezie" Greer of Uncasville; two brothers, Spencer "Buddy" and Albert "Butch" Lancaster, both of New London; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a few great-great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by three sons, Steward B., Darrell R. and Wallace A. Holeman Jr.; granddaughter, Beaushannia Holeman; two brothers, Richard "Dickie" Lancaster Jr. and James "Jimmy" Lancaster; and one sister, Clara Lancaster Singleton.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1 Garvin St., New London. Relatives and friends may visit from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Jordan Cemetery in Waterford. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at the church.
