Marta Sullivan Obituary
Marta was born in Medellin, Columbia, in 1975. She moved to Connecticut in 1992, and graduated from Wilbur Cross High School. In 2010, she became a C.N.A. to follow her love of helping people. Marta worked in home health care, Apple Rehabilitation and Clinton's C.H.C., as well as an administrative assistant prior to that. Marta bravely fought cancer with her characteristic smile to the end; a smile which could only be outshined by her love for children. Marta will be missed by many loving friends and family members.
She leaves behind her nine year old daughter, Katherine; her husband of 17 years, Keith; her loving sister and mother, Astrid Thompson and Belermina Lopez, both of whom sat at her side to her final moment; her brother, Ivan Dario Hincapie Lopez; her nieces, Valerie, AnnLise, Jennifer, Crysta, and Grace; and her nephews, Sabastian and Tony. Marta will also be missed by her brother, Jair and sisters, Cecilia, Piedad, and Stella Hincapie-Lopez in Columbia, South America.
Calling hours will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at St. George Roman Catholic Church Church in Guilford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, or to Middlesex Hospice, 27 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457. www.swanfuneralhomeoldsaybrook.com.

Dear keith and Catherine,
My family and I are distraught over the loss of Marta. We only met once during a play date at the North Haven sports complex...Even though is was short encounter we grew very fond of Catherine and Marta. Grace and Catherine are great friends and have a special bond. Life can be so unfair.... Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this vey difficult time. My prayers are with all of you at this time. Marta has passed on to a better life free of sickness. It is not fair in life sometimes when such good Caring people pass on we need people like her around for a long time but, she was chosen to be one of gods special angels. I didn't know her very well but she touched my heart. Rest in peace Marta

We will remember Marta as a loving mother who was devoted to Katherine. She came to our school often to volunteer in the classroom, even field day! and to eat lunch with Katherine. At this difficult time, Katherine, please know we are thinking of you.
