Uncasville - Mary E. Albot, 79, of Uncasville died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at the Backus Hospital. She was born in Saltsburg, Pa., May 10, 1942, the daughter of the late Thomas and Katherine (Knickerboker) Johnston.

Mary was owner and director of the Hilltop Nursery in Uncasville for over thirty years before retiring. She was married to Nelson Batchum who predeceased her.

She is survived by three daughters, Sheri Albot (Doug) of Uncasville, Traci Racklyeft of Norwich and Terri Labarre (Jamie) of Taftville; two stepdaughters, Debra Daniels of Groton and Carlene Swiacke of New York; two brothers, Gary Johnston of Pawcatuck and David Johnston of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son Anthony Sanquedolce; one granddaughter; a son-in-law Stephen Racklyeft; and four siblings.

A calling hour will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 South B Street, Taftville with a funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Maplewood Cemetery Norwich.

I went to Mary's daycare services for a bit and I absolutely loved getting off the bus. Playing in the backyard, meeting new kids. She was the nicest lady, would give her jacket off her back to you. She will be missed. My condolences to the family and friends during this time.
