Nicholas Allen "Nick" Sullivan

Stonington - Nicholas "Nick" Allen Sullivan died unexpectedly July 2, 2024. He leaves behind his wife Melanie Annacker Sullivan; their sons, Lukas and Liam; his mother Mary Allen Sullivan; his sister Jessa Rose Page (Michael, Isabella, and James); and brother James Sullivan, wife Cyndi (Gregory, Drew, Ben); and aunt Patti Linder (Molly and Russel); his Berlin family, Heidi and Harald Annacker; her sister Manuela and husband Heiko (Tobias and Stevie). Nick is predeceased by his father James Sullivan.

At an early age, Nick's passion was cooking. He studied culinary arts at the International Culinary School in Massachusetts. He worked at his craft, mentored by Walter Houlihan at Water Street Cafe for close to 18 years. He also worked at the Rathskeller in Charlestown, R.I. Nick met Melanie, who was working as an au pair, and they married in 2001. They traveled frequently to Berlin, while living here in the U.S.

After years of closing down a kitchen every night, Nick changed course and became licensed as a home improvement contractor to be home evenings with family. For the past few years, Melanie and Nick have fostered rescue dogs in their home, with only two foster fails. Nick's greatest joy came from spending time with those close to him, sharing laughs, a meal, a day kayaking, bowling, or a good game of cards. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man, devoted to family, quick with a smile, often called a rascal because of his joy in pulling a good prank.

In memory of Nick, we ask that you consider the following: Eat dinner together, clear the table, and play a lively game of UNO. Pump up the tires on the bicycles and take a ride. Build a Lego Starship together. Cuddle up on the couch with the kids, include some dogs, and watch a funny movie.
