Patrick John Gaska

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Patrick John Gaska, 31, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., passed away February 15, 2025. He was born in Norwich, Sept. 1, 1993, the son of Stephen and Rosemary Gaska

Patrick attended St. Joseph School from pre-K through sixth grade. He graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 2011 and attended New England Technical College. Patrick moved to Florida in 2019. He was employed for the past two and a half years at EBway LLC, a Precision Metal Company in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was a supervisor/machine press operator.

As a child, Patrick participated in karate, hockey, basketball, baseball and soccer. In high school, he played four years of soccer, three of them at the varsity level. He also participated in one season of outdoor track. Patrick spent a lot of his youth fishing, crabbing and swimming on Smith's Cove. Patrick loved fishing his whole life, just like both of his grandfather's. He also spent many hours of his youth in his Poppy's woodshop basement, learning to use his hands. One of Patrick's best traits was that he was very loyal, especially to his brother, cousins and lifelong friends.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother Bryan S. Gaska of Griswold. Patrick is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Patrick was predeceased by his grandparents, Stephen and Amelia Gaska and John, Muriel and Madeline DiStasio; along with his uncle John DiStasio.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, at St. Joseph Church, 120 Cliff Street, Norwich. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in New London. Woyasz & Son Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
