Peter Gilmore Obituary
Pete was a retired Lieutenant of the New London Fire Department after 43 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, in St. Joseph Church, 149 Montauk Ave. New London. Followed by interment in St. Mary Cemetery with Firemen's Honors.
The Impellitteri-Malia Funeral Home, 84 Montauk Ave., New London has been entrusted with his care. A complete obituary will appear in Wednesday's edition of The Day.

Pop was one of the funniest and kindest people I have ever known. It was an honor to be part of his lineage, and I will cherish every memory we shared-good or bad. From our fishing trips to the jokes only we understood, every moment taught me something about life, love, and laughter. For nearly four decades, Pop shaped who I am today, and for that, I am forever grateful. We love you, Pop, and we will miss you deeply.

So sad to learn of Pete's passing. I had known Pete and Betty for many years starting as a teenager when i used to score softball at Calkins park and am thankful for the patience and guidance with my involvement with the Surfers Drum and Bugle Corps. Pete was always helpful during my time as a volunteer firefighter when he was stationed at the Riverview Avenue firehouse. That after becoming a paid member of the New London Fire Department i had the opportunity for working for years with Pete on Group 3, most of those years at Fire Headquarters on Bank Street. That it was an honor and pleasure working with him and know he shall be sadly missed by many. May God bless you Brother. Richie Benvenuti
