Peter Lewis Obituary

Noank - Peter Edward Lewis of Noank, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 27, 2025, age 33.

Born Jan. 21, 1992, in Westerly, R.I., Peter, or "Pete" as he was known to friends and family, was passionate and blisteringly witty, known for his one-line remarks and keen sense of humor. A student of both Grasso Technical and Fitch High School, Peter always blazed his own trail through life, finding a path that was utterly his own. He studied briefly at Three Rivers Community College, and maintained a lifelong interest in technology and computer science.

Peter grew up locally to Noank and was an ardent lover of his hometown region. However, Peter traveled extensively along the East Coast and was a former resident of Pittsboro, N.C., and Boone/Blowing Rock, N.C., leaving many lifelong friends and acquaintances from his time in the South. While living with family in Pittsboro, Pete further developed his passion for music and his faculty with the guitar, writing music regularly for his online presence – and when lovingly encouraged – in the former restaurant of close family, the Parker-Lewises of Pittsboro.

While his father, Barry Lewis, lived in the Lakes District of Northern England, Peter traveled to the U.K. and Ireland and enjoyed spending time abroad. He left musical instruments in each of his homes, and would sometimes bless his loved ones with his talents and repertoire. It was always an unforgettable moment when Pete would share his voice, his soul, through his music.

Peter was beset with many challenges of mental, and later, physical health that somehow, never dampened his sense of humor with his friends and loved ones. Peter was always quick to lend a hand – or ear – to any friend or family member in trouble, or in need of support. He was always on the other end of the phone, text, or DM for a quick chat, or complete heart-to-heart. He will always be remembered for his freely-rendered empathy and infectious laugh.

Peter leaves behind his close family, parents, Barry and Roberta (Turilli) Lewis; his sister and brother-in-law Amy (Lewis) and Patrick Dominov; nephew James Dominov; heart sister Jennifer McNeely and nephew Leif Olsen; grandparents, Robert Turilli and Joyce Lewis (Errico); his beloved canine companion Buddy; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extensive family in North Carolina, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and beyond.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peter's honor to Community Speaks Out, 124 North Street, Groton, CT 06340, or at www.communityspeaksout.org. If you or a loved one is in crisis, please call or text: (860) 271-1835 or (860) 823-8771 for CT-based assistance.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, at St. Patrick Church, 32 East Main Street, Mystic. Following his Mass, he will be buried at St. Patrick Cemetery, River Road in Mystic. There are no calling hours.
