Dr Peter Francis Moore Ph.D.

New London - Peter Francis Moore, 88, formerly of New London, died at his home in Chester May 10, 2025, following a long illness. Dr. Moore was born July 24, 1936, in The Bronx, N.Y. Peter is survived by his wife of 65 years, Christina (Ronan) Moore; and his five daughters: Kathleen Fulton (Steven), Siobhan Moore (John DeFrancesco), Veronica Bartlett (Jeffrey), Deirdre Moore, Aileen Moore; his devoted brother John Moore (Rita); and his ten grandchildren. He was predeceased by his youngest brother, Kevin (Ellen).

After earning a B.S. degree from Fordham University, he completed his Ph.D. in pharmacology at Purdue University. In 1997, Dr. Moore retired from his 36-year career with Pfizer, Inc. in Groton, where he worked as a research pharmacologist in the pulmonary division. It was at Pfizer where he developed the many patents he held.

Peter was an active member of St. Joseph Church in New London and was a fixture at the 9 a.m. Mass, where he proclaimed the Word of God as a lector. He was dedicated to the Pro-Life Council of Connecticut, where he served as treasurer in the 1970s. He was a proud first-generation American and celebrated his Irish heritage through his long-standing membership in the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Neilan Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London, and a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, May 19, at St. Joseph Church in New London. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
