Priscilla Gonsalves Obituary
She was happily married for 57 years to her loving husband, Alfred "Freddie" Gonsalves. Priscilla was a deeply devoted and proud wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Freddie; her sister Frances Santos; her three children and their spouses: Dawn Gonsalves-Joyner and Devol Joyner, Gregg and Charmaine Gonsalves, and Denise and Caz Barros: and seven grandchildren: Christina, Justin, and Grant Gonsalves; Andre, Isaiah, and Miles Joyner; and Mason Barros.
Four sisters, Stella and Florence "Dolly" Fernandes, Theresa Lopes, and Mary Fernandes-Dennis; and three brothers, Alfred, Manuel and Joseph Fernandes, predeceased Priscilla.
A Celebration of Life will be held starting at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Prime 82 in Norwich. In lieu of flowers, you might consider a donation to Hartford Healthcare at Home Hospice or the charity of your choice. I am flooded with memories of growing up on Trowel Street in the East End of Bridgeport, CT. in the 50's where I lived across the street from the Fernandes Family. For many years I have tried to find their family members on social media to no avail. Today, out of the clear blue I started typing names from my childhood in the search bar under obituaries. I looked up Priscilla's name. Once I saw her picture the tears flowed. She was such a wonderful person back in the 50's and I am sure she was a wonderful wife and mother through the years. I played baseball on the street in front of our houses using the manhole cover as home plate. Her sister, Mary, often played with us. I played Monopoly at their house. Those girls were so beautiful and were always smiling. Terry next door to them was a dear friend also. My name is Bette-Jean Mastroni- Crouse. I was born in 1943. My brother was the crippled boy with one leg named Anthony. My husband and I had 4 sons and lived in Sandy Hook, CT. before moving to Maine. I am on Facebook. To anyone reading this I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to Priscilla's loved ones on her passing. How I wish I could have connected with her years ago. Surely we will have a reunion in heaven. God bless each one in her family.
