Ralph Anthony Cardone

Niantic - Ralph Anthony Cardone, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025.

Ralph was born April 22, 1942, to Lucy and Mike Cardone in Stamford. He was a 1964 graduate of the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in accounting, where he was also a member of the U.S. Army ROTC. He entered service with the 25th Division in Hawaii, as a 2nd lieutenant, and was deployed to Vietnam in 1966, with the 2nd Battalion 27th Infantry. Ralph received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his actions during the war. After the war, he served with the Reserves and was promoted to captain before being discharged. He recently wrote his memoir, "My Army Story," for his grandchildren in 2024.

After his service, he worked as an accountant for several different firms, retiring from Harvey Industries in 2006, as a corporate credit manager.

On Nov. 18, 1967, he married Robin Mitchell, with whom he had two sons, Jonathan and Jason. They moved to Farmington in 1976, and retired to Niantic in 2006. He loved to host parties and have fun with friends and family. Ralph was a lifelong Yankees, NY Giants, and UConn basketball fan. He was active in retirement, reading voraciously, walking every day, and going on cruises with Robin and friends.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Robin; his sons, Jon (Elisa) and Jason (Maureen); their children Mitchell, Cooper, Victoria, Brady and Elizabeth; his sister Judy Halka; his in-laws, Bill and Chris Mitchell; along with five nieces and nephews.

Family, friends and others whose lives Ralph touched are invited from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, to the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home at 48 Grand Street, Niantic, to reminisce, grieve and support each other. There will be a private service Monday, Dec 15, at the Middletown State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
