RALPH GOOD Memoriam

IN MEMORIAM

In Loving Memory Of

RALPH E. GOOD JR.

March 30, 1921 - May 12, 1944

?Eightieth Anniversary

Pearl Harbor demanded he enlist;

"Your teeth are too bad," they declined.

He left there and had them extracted ...

"You're good to go, Good." Up he signed.

His B-17 Flying Fortress

Made perilous, mad daylight raids.

"No man need fly more than two dozen

Before reassignment be made."

But Staff Sergeant Good was no quitter;

Short staffing dealt him a "long war."

He flew 49 daring missions

And then volunteered for one more.

He didn't come back from that last one ...

"Missing in action"

... just that and no more.

And years passed with nothing but silence

While we prayed he'd walk through the door.

But such was the fate of this hero

That no answered prayers would we see:

This decorated, courageous, and noble

Young man died at just 23.

A shining example he left us

To serve as he answered the call:

Determined to be there for others,

Unselfishly giving his all.

Remembered with profound pride,

gratitude, and love by nieces

Donna and Linda Good Johnston

and Cheryl Good and nephews

Charles and David Good and Ted Shore

I'm someone else who does not know Staff Sargent Good, but what a beautiful tribute you have given to this brave young man. All gave some, some gave ALL. Thank you for sharing his story ... "into the Wild Blue Yonder..."

I did not know know him or family. This the best memorial I have ever read. It has given so much inspiration today to be my best self and to go out and not be afraid. Thank you for sharing his legacy. I hope everyone is inspired by his life story.

I don't know your family, but this remembrance to him is really nice. For him to be remembered after 80 years is really special. The poem is lovely. He was such a brave young man, and a true hero.
