Raymond Peccini Obituary

Delray Beach, Fla. - Raymond J. "Ray" Peccini, 105, born March 23, 1920, in Norwich, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach, Fla. Oct. 17, 2025, after a short illness. He was surrounded by his loving family and devoted healthcare workers.

Ray was predeceased by his wife Helen Quarto Peccini; and all six of his siblings. He is survived by his daughter Beverly; his son Wayne; and daughter-in-law Sharon Peccini of Delray Beach; and several nieces and nephews in Connecticut.

Ray moved to Delray Beach in 2019, and resided with his daughter Beverly until he passed. He loved the Florida sun, beaches, swimming pools and restaurants.

Ray was an exercise enthusiast until the day he passed. He amazed friends and doctors with his mental faculties, even at 105 with his detailed memories and ability to complete the Rubik's Cube within a couple of minutes, and he completed his own tax returns for 2024 correctly.

He owned and operated the Uncas Shoe MFG Company in Norwich with his partners, brother Gino Peccini and Tom Tangari.Ray then worked at General Dynamics, Electric Boat as an administrator in the Nuclear Quality Control Department until he retired in 1997.

Ray was very active and well known in Norwich sports and managed Cip's Grinders, a Fastpitch semi-pro softball team, winning the Norwich City League Championship 21 out of 25 years. He then coached and managed his son Wayne in the Norwich Little League and Senior League systems.

Ray was the manager of the 1965 Norwich American Senior League All-Star Team, which advanced to the World Championship held in Des Moines, Iowa, finishing third in the world and second in the United States. He was inducted into the Norwich Sports Hall of Fame in 1990, an honor he treasured.

If you knew Ray, you can be sure he is recruiting players for his team in Heaven, and they will win a Championship.

There will be a graveside service in the spring of 2026, at Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Norwich. Ray's ashes will be placed in the family plot for his final resting place.
