Rebecca Fraser Obituary

Waterford - Rebecca Lee "Becky" (Yering) Fraser went home to Heaven in the early hours of June 1, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, leaving those around her blown away by the fact that her positive attitude never wavered. She leaves here on earth a community of family and friends who feel lucky to have been loved by her.

Becky was born in New London, Sept. 26, 1975, to Deb and Phil Yering. She grew up in Montville alongside her two sisters, Amy Yeomans (husband Chris) and Laura Stauffenger (husband Sam). In 2003, she married the love of her life, Matt Fraser (parents, Connie and Stan). Together they raised three beautiful children, Alex, Isabella "Izzi," and Blake. Family was everything to Becky and her kids were her absolute pride and joy. Besides being the best mom, she was also an amazing auntie to multiple nieces and nephews. All of the kids she leaves behind, no matter their age, will love and miss her dearly.

Becky's faith guided her throughout her life, and she was proud to be a member of Bishop Seabury Church in Groton, where she grew in her faith and love of the Lord. For many years, Becky was a stay-at-home mom and then went on to pursue her passion in social work. Throughout her time as a social worker, her positive impact was felt by every resident she helped. She continued to follow her passion for giving back to the long-term care community and pursued further education to become a licensed nursing home administrator. Her final role was as the administrator at Greentree Manor in Waterford.

Becky had a love for photography. She was known to take up to 1,000 photos in a day if the mood struck and was able to capture many precious moments over the years. She also never missed a birthday for anyone and took so much joy in celebrating her family and friends. Speaking of celebrating: Christmas was Becky's favorite holiday and every year, she started decorating as soon as Halloween was over. Her house was a winter wonderland, full of light and warmth and beautiful trees. Becky also loved the ocean, being out on their family boat and traveling. Aruba was truly a special place to her and Matt. She enjoyed every moment she spent there with him and her family, just "floating" all day, as she would say. Family Beach Week was another tradition for over 30 years, where 40 family members would vacation for a week in Misquamicut. Becky looked forward to this time with her favorite people every year.

Becky was the kind of friend anyone would be lucky to have. She shared countless memories with a group of best friends she met in middle school, for whom she loved and remained close to. Becky made friends everywhere she went and was lucky to have formed long-lasting friendships with those she worked with over the years, as well. Becky had a contagious smile and a laugh that lit up the room.

Her family and friends will miss her forever, but we know she'll be beside us at every holiday party, every UConn game, anytime we drink a McDonald's fountain Diet Coke, and of course, at every family game night. Whenever we celebrate a big moment in our lives, we will feel her with us and hold her in our hearts forever. There will be a Celebration of Life for Becky from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 21, at My Little Ladies Farm, 116 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill.

I am sad to read this. I met Becky at Mystic Healthcare when my fiance' Cliff was there for end of life care. Becky brought comfort to us at a very difficult time. Although we had just met, it was like we knew her forever.
That was the kind of person she was. I will never forget her husband Matt picking me up during a blizzard so I could be by Cliffs side so he would not pass alone. I am forever grateful for that kind gesture. She was truly an amazing women and loved by so many. She fought cancer so bravely. Rest with the Angels beautiful Becky.

I am amazed at such a positive outlook on life Becky had. She truly fought and it´s so sad that she lost her battle. I´ve been following her journey through her posts, always happy, always smiling, never negative even when she was having a rough time. Her strength and courage touched so many people. May you all find comfort with the fact that she was loved and admired by so many. My deepest condolences to all of you. Rest in Peace Becky.
