Robert Grills Obituary
Bob was born in New London, on June 5, 1937, the son of the late Harry and Mary (Aguiar) Grills. He was predeceased by his wife, Valeda (Wood) Grills.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 2, at St. Joseph Church, New London. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New London. There are no calling hours.
The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Bob Grills was the founder of SCIMI and Ultra Image UT system and Ultra Image Division at SAIC. Working for Bob for over 15 years was a great pleasure for me. Bob Grills was a highly intelligent man, with multiple talents - from music, to engineering to management and marketing, Bob had remarkable memories and was a fast learner, who would challenge most complex engineering problems yet could see simple and neat solutions in very innovative ways almost right from the beginning. Bob showed truly leadership in all of his operations, who would take all the responsibilities of any hardships to himself and gave credits to the people working for him. Bob Grills was a Giant in the UT NDT field. In additional to his well recognized technical achievements, Bob was a super nice gentleman by nature - warm, kind with abound love to his family, his friends, and the community. Together with his wife, Valeda, their bright spirits will shine in our hearts forever. From Anna and Mike Tsao

Smiling with LOVE IN MY HEART...Aren't we all so NERDY, and loving every minute of it? Cousin/Uncle Bob, I will miss your physical presence, just as My Aunt's, but I will search for your gentle touch in my heart! My Daddy's first cousin, and married my Mommy's sister. We had a doubly wonderful relationship!

We have the fondest memories of Bob and his family. Bob & and his wife Valeda, Baptized our Twins sons, Bobby & Harold. They lived across the street from us and were very much a part of our family . He is in Heaven now with his beloved wife. We loved him..and will miss him... he was a friend to everyone and a great host welcoming friends to their home for his annual Christmas night buffet and holiday get together.

I knew Bob Grills when he started dating one of my closest girlfriends Valeda Woods. I was in their wedding. He was always there when needed. A very interesting man who traveled many places during his & Valeda's marriage until they settled back to New London which I was grateful for to be able to see them again. So sad to hear of his passing. He has a wonderful family that will help each other in their loss. He will be missed. Mary Ellen Menghi Leone

Bob was a special person who took care of his St. Bernard Saint footballers through the years. I think of Tim as one of my very best friends in life and I think that he is a mirror image of Bob - a great person with a caring heart who always was taking care of others. We were always made to feel like family at the Grills household. With a heavy heart we say good-bye to Bob but know that God will be taking incredible care of Bob. God Bless Tim and Merrijo in these difficult times - we are there for you guys! Love Tim and Missy
