Dr. Klimek was my doctor for only 6 years since my return to CT but I felt like I knew him longer than that. He was genuinely interested in his patients beyond their eyes. He was the type of person I wish I knew better. May God grant his family comfort during this time of grief and give the soul of this kind man eternal peace and happiness.

My deep sympathy goes to Dr. Klimek's family on his passing. He always displayed family photographs in his office and talked of pleasant activities with them. He was a wonderful doctor, to whom I shall always be grateful for his skilled work to restore my failing eyesight twelve years ago. I also grew to admire him deeply as a person and hope that
wonderful memories will comfort all those who loved him.

Although we moved from Centerbrook several years ago, I owe Dr. Klimek a huge debt of gratitude. Because of his great skill, he diagnosed an aneurysm on my retina, 8 years ago, and sent me for tests. Those tests incidentally discovered another aneurysm in my brain, which was treated successfully. I told him of my undying gratitude to him on almost every visit until we moved. There is no other ophthalmologist like Dr. Klimek and I have been greatly disappointed in my quest to find anyone as good at our new home. Please be comforted in knowing how much he was loved and respected. May God comfort you in the hours of your grief.

My heart is so very heavy with sadness. I started seeing Dr. Klimek when I was 15, I am now 50. He was always so wonderful to have time to discuss the rarity of my eye condition and our love of the water, his sailing and my fishing. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May you always have "Red Sky at Night, Sailors Delight".

As patients with four fewer cataracts than before we met Dr. Klimek, and the beneficiaries of numerous office visits and conversations with him, Anne and I were devastated by his untimely death as were all his patients and friends.
If we made the rules, caring doctors would remain with us until they chose to pass us along to the care of similarly dedicated doctors; devoted sailors would enjoy their sloops forever in continual fair winds, calm waters, an endless supply of Mount Gay rum and the sound of a sunset cannon at days end; loving husbands and parents would be around for all their great, great, grand-children's major life events; avid skiers would always have blue skies above them and powder on the slopes they loved; and most importantly, Dr. Robert J. Klimek would still be with us.
If we could, most of us would change the reality of our loss –– but we can't. And now we have no options but acceptance of Dr. Klimek's passing, gratitude for his years with us -- even though far too few, and cherished memories of all that he was as a man, a husband, a father, a healer, and a friend.

My deepest condolences to all of the Klimek family on the lost of this wonderful man. I knew him professionally and as a patient. He treated my whole family and was a blessing when my husband got out of the Burn Unit several years ago. When my Dad was dying of cancer he didn't want to miss his appointment with Dr. Klimek. When my Mom passes away a few months ago he wrote a beautiful note on the card. When I saw him in the office a few weeks later he was just as kind. He was a true professional with such a rare combination of intelligence and compassion. I was honored to have him as mine as well as my family's physician .
Every time my grandson wears his bowtie, I will think of him.God Bless you all.

My heartfelt condolences to the family and staff of Dr. Klimek. I have such a lump in my throat writing this, it's almost impossible for me to comprehend that this vibrant, engaging, professional and kind ray of sunshine is no longer with us. I first met Dr. Klimek in 8th grade and have been his patient for nearly 34 years. Always that beaming smile, twinkle in his eyes, asking about my family and so proud to speak of his. Winter skiing in Colorado, summers sailing. He has been a constant in my life. I actually looked forward to this doctor's appointment! Thank you for everything Dr. Klimek. Such a lovely man, you will be missed by so many. Rest in peace.

My prayers go out to the Klimek family. Dr. Klimek was the only ophthalmologist I have ever had. My parents (Christine and Sam Salerno) were one of his first patients. I always looked forward to my annual exams as Dr. Klimek would first shake my hand and then ask me what I had been doing over the year. Always so interested in my background and sharing his experiences with me, and offering advice, support, and encouragement. He stands among the best in the medical community and leaves a persona for others to follow. Rest in peace Dr. Klimek and God bless you and your family.

My family is saddened to read of Dr. Klimek's death. I met him many years ago when my mother was a patient. She always spoke so highly of him and came home from the appointments so happy. I soon found out why.
Several years later, he became my eye doctor and my husband's.
Dr. Klimek was so friendly, personable, caring and competent. He always made time to be thorough and ask about one's family and job, making patients feel special.

To the Klimek family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. As administrator of Constitution Eye Surgery Center East I had the honor and privilege to work with Dr. "K", for 12 years. I will miss his smile, his kind interaction with his patients and his support of the staff. Most of all I will miss the man who demonstrated the qualities of a good person, a good friend and most of all a good physician. My heart aches but I consider myself so fortunate that I was given the opportunity to be a small part of this man's legacy. Peace be with all of you and know that your husband, father and grandfather touched so many lives.

To the family of Dr Robert Klimek. I want to express my deepest sympathy on your loss as well as all of us that new this wonderful and dedicated man. I was one of his patients for nearly thirty years. Having first met him when he worked out of the Lena Building in New London. I remember that day because as I entered the waiting area I found his office clerk crawling around the floor on her hands and knees looking for something which turned out to be a contact lens so I joined her and we did find it. I was to spend many hours in this waiting room as well as in his new building in Waterford and over the years I grew to look forward to my appointments with him. I found him to be a very interesting and congenial person dedicated to his profession and his family. We would always discuss our families , his love for sking in Colorado and sailing, my Navy career and my large family of seven which he seemed in awe of and his success at being able to keep my left eye working even though I kept doing things to it to undo his hard work. He called me his miracle man. He will be dearly missed by all of us that were fortunate enough to have known him.

Having had the privilege of knowing this remarkable human being for more than 30 years, and having had the occasion to share his love of each day so many times as a patient I am deeply saddened to read his obituary which so beautifully expressed those qualities which he so generously shared with so many of his acquaintances, each of them receiving his beneficence. I am confident that I can speak for those many who now feel diminished through his departing. His living was a gift.

To Dr. Klimek's family: my husband, sister, and Mother join me in extending our sincerest sympathy at your great loss. Dr. Klimek was a wonderful doctor and everyone trusted him without exception. I remember his compassion and kindness when I lost my father. Dr. Klimek remembered my father had died 8 months before, and commented that my father and I were obviously loving and mutually respectful to each other. His very kind and insightful observation brought poignant tears to my eyes. Dr. Klimek took care of my father and Mother; sister and husband. We feel a great loss and huge void. To Carol and the entire Klimek family, I want to express my deep sadness on the loss of our beloved Doctor Klimek, who was my employer. Having worked at Shoreline Eye Group for almost 10 years, it has truly been an honor to have known him, as an employee as well as a patient. He never hesitated to offer his thoughtful advice as if we were a family member, no matter the situation, no matter how busy he was. Dr. Klimek was more than an ophthalmologist, His clinical recommendations were life-saving for many, including a member of my immediate family, to say that I am grateful to him is an understatement.
I loved that he appreciated a person's character, joined in our office fun at the holidays, and sought out our opinions on his" signature" bow ties. Although there is a huge gap in our lives at the office, his presence will be felt there forever. Thank you for the opportunity to express personal feelings. God Bless.
