Royce Paul "Roy" Robinson

Groton - Royce "Roy" Paul Robinson, 89, of Groton, died at the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London March 22, 2024, suffering from dementia for many years. Born at home in Voluntown, he was the son of the late Leo and Irene (Bitgood) Robinson and has lived in Groton since 1966. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gloria (Johnson) Robinson.

Royce was the owner and operator of the family business, Roy and Sons Auto Body in Groton which he started in 1966. He took great pride in providing the finest Auto Body Repair services possible and was joined by two of his sons, Wayne and Mark, for many of those years. His grandson Mathew is now also part of the business. His son Brian has become successful doing computer work in Florida.

The Robinson family would like to thank the Hospice Care Nurses at L&M for their gentle kindness at a time the family needed it most. They would also like to thank Academy Point in Mystic, which was Roy's home-away-from-home during his illness. He appreciated the warm welcome he would always receive from his friends and staff.

In addition to his wife Gloria, he leaves his three sons, Wayne R. Robinson (Rosemary), Royce Mark Robinson (Sheila) all of Ledyard, and Brian D. Robinson (Michelle) of Boca Raton, Fla. ; a sister, Theresa Godaire of Jewett City; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Irene Doolittle.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
