Russell Champlin Obituary

Ledyard - Russell Irving Champlin, 57, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Russ was born in New London on Dec. 27, 1950. He was the son of Thomas and Alice (Avery) Champlin of Gales Ferry. He was employed as driver/manager at Arrow Equipment in New London for over 10 years.

In addition to parents and his wife Nancy (Holmes) Champlin of 35 years, he is survived by his son, Wayne his wife, Joann, and their son, Jonathan of Ledyard; a daughter, Erica her husband, Bob Guerrera of Niantic and their expected child due in April; two brothers, Vincent Champlin of North Stonington, and Stephen Champlin of Ledyard; two sisters, Brenda Morse of East Lyme, and Elaine Koch of Georgia.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., Historic downtown Mystic from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 106 Franklin Commons, Franklin, CT 06254.

I just heard the sad news of my high school friend's passing. "Irv" as his nickname was , was a central figure in our "gang" down at the Kartway. Always animated, always up for adventure, always a great friend. RIP Russ.

Nancy and family,
I just heard of Russ's passing and I want to tell you how sorry I am for your loss.My father was good friends with Russ and he even did a job for me digging a trench for a curtin drain.
Nancy, my dad passed this past Dec.so I'm sure he is waiting for Russ with open arms.He is not alone!
