Russell Holland Obituary
He is survived by his wife Melissia Lamb Holland; his daughter Cynthia Holland; and son Robert Holland of Preston; his son Justin Holland of Ledyard; and daughter Stacey Champagne and granddaughter Falynn Champagne of Plantsville.
Russ, "Rusty" was born May 24, 1960, to Ernita and John Holland of Preston. He was predeceased by his father John; his mother Ernita; his sisters, Gail Holland and Evelyn (Holland) Linderman. He is survived by his brothers, Neil Holland and James Holland; and his sister Kathy Baker all of Preston.
Russ joined the fire department in 1978. He held many positions throughout his time including the longest chief of the Poquetanuck Fire Department. Russ worked for over 40 years for New London News and then Fall River News when the company was bought out. He retired from Fall River News in 2019.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of his Life from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Poquetanuck Fire Department, 87 Route 2A in Preston In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Poquetanuck Fire Department. Dear Missy, Cindy, and Bob, I am so sorry to hear about Russ. I haven´t seen any of you in many years but I truly felt you were a lovely strong family. You must be grieving now but when you have a chance, I would love to catch up.
