She was born in Waterford, on Dec. 18, 1915, the daughter of Ernest A. and Alice (Darrow) Denison.
She married Kenneth A. Dimmock on Feb. 14, 1937, in New London. Ken passed away Jan. 14, 1997.
Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church in New London. She was a member of the Goshen Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the pinochle league. A great baker, she was known for her penny pies during the annual Firemen's Days in August. Ruth was a champion duck pin bowler in the Waterford Women's League and was an avid reader who greatly supported her local library.
She is survived by two sons, David Dimmock of Exeter, N.H., and Wayne Dimmock and his wife, Pam, of Avon, Ind.; a daughter, Shirley Dimmock Perregaux and her husband, Paul, of Hernando, Fla.; and two brothers, Henry and Lawrence Dimmock, both of Waterford. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Beth Adele Perregaux, Adrian Perregaux and wife, Susan, Kenneth Perregaux and wife, Kathleen, David Perregaux and wife, Melissa, Aaron Dimmock and wife, Kim, and Jonathan Dimmock; and 15 beloved great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Everett, Mary, Arlene, William, George, Edith, Alice, and Ellen.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London. Interment will be in East Neck Cemetery, Waterford. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be directed to the Waterford Library, 49 Rope Ferry Road, Waterford CT 06385.

My sincere condolences to the Dimmock Family. I will always remember Ruth as one of my dearest friends. Even tho we didn't see each other that much in our later years, we never forgot our friendship over the years. What a bowler and pinochle player she was!
