Steven Mell Obituary

Lisbon - Steven Douglas Mell (1963-2025) left this world after living an awesome life Sept. 25, 2025. Steven was born March 18, 1963, in New London to Roberta (Smead) Mell Elnicki and John Mell, who predeceased him when he was three. Steven is also predeceased by his stepfather, Michael Elnicki.

Steven married Tina (Prentice) in May 2000. Together they raised a blended family of five children: Ashley Mell, Danielle (Chris) Yowell, David Prentice, Abbagail Mell and Emarhia (Brandon) Wylie. When it came to loving kids, there was no difference between biological and stepchildren to Steven; Steven loved and supported all his kids until his last breath. Steven was an active parent who did everything from homework to camping to fishing to amusement parks to wacky photo shoots. His life became even more rewarding with six grandchildren: Daemon, Alexis, Dorothy, Shelby, Robbie and Elisabeth.

In addition to his wife, kids and mom, Stevie, as his family calls him, leaves behind his brother Kenny Mell; and Ashley and Abbagail's biological mother. He is predeceased by his brother Michael Mell; and sister SueAnn (Brian) Roberge.

Steven might be best known for the fun bright shirts he commonly wore and the crazy fun he brought to every situation. Steven had incredible relationships with so many people. The legacy he leaves behind is tangible. Steven found his passion when he became a school bus driver; immediately coworkers became family. Steven believed in living life to the fullest and that every day was an opportunity for a new adventure! Steven's moto was "The man, the myth, the legend, I'm Steven Mell."

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future time.

SMell, there were so many Stevens/Stephans at work, always made my days a little better, and treated my daughter almost like his own. I will always regret that I wasn't able to keep as in touch as I wanted, but life changes our worlds. He was one of the greatest people I have known and often reminded me that there are good people in this world. A friend you could count on, whether it was a shoulder to cry on or a cup of coffee. I love ya SMell. I'll miss you always.

One of the best dads I ever worked with at Stanton. He lit up a room but loved all his kids fiercely and wanted only the best for them. My condolences to the whole family
