Susan "Sue" Sullivan

Sarasota, Fla. - Susan Mary Sullivan, 73, of Sarasota, Fla., passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at Lily's Promise of Sarasota. Susan was born in Hartford, daughter of the late Robert Sullivan and Elinor Devanney Sullivan. She lived for many years in Rocky Hill and Niantic, before relocating to Sarasota, Fla.

Sue was a devoted educator who spent many years teaching kindergarten in the Hartford Public School System. She will be remembered for her patience, warmth and dedication to her students.

Outside the classroom, Sue loved to travel with her best friend, Harriet, and to spend time at Crescent Beach in Niantic. In Sarasota, she volunteered her time with The Exchange of Sarasota, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the local arts community.

She is survived by her nephews, Robert Blair (Kate) of Niantic, Christopher Blair (Cassie) of Port Orange, Fla., and David Blair (Jenn) of Edgewater, Fla.; two great-nieces, Jordan and Haley; one great-nephew Aidan; her brother-in-law, Wayne Blair of Niantic; and her best friend, Harriet Marek of Sarasota, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elinor Sullivan; her sisters, Sheila Blair and Maura Sullivan; and her brother, Robert Sullivan Jr.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan's memory may be made to The Exchange of Sarasota, 539 S. Orange Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34236.
