Thomas Constantine Obituary

East Lyme - Thomas T. Constantine Sr., 92, of Niantic, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013.

He was born on May 8, 1921, to the late Theologos and Evanthia A (Kozinos) Constantine of New London.

Thomas graduated from Chapman Technical School in New London in 1941. He was a World War II veteran, serving his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard from 1941 till 1945. After the war, he settled in Niantic and was employed by General Dynamics, Electric Boat of Groton for 40 years.

Thomas was a founding charter member of the St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church of New London. During the course of his life, he was a member of the Order of the Masons, Niantic Chapter and The Chesterfield, Ct Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Annie (Stadnick) Constantine whom he married on Nov. 22, 1943. He is survived by three sons, George Constantine and his wife, Judith, of Waterford, Thomas T. Constantine Jr. and his wife, Sue, of Mystic, and Christopher Constantine and his wife, Deborah, of Bethel Park, Pa. He is also survived by his sister, Catherine Constantiou of Norwich; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Thomas was predeceased by his brothers, Kosta Constantine of Bristol, Arthur Constantine of Greenwich; and his sister, Koula LaBrie of Waterford.

At 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, a viewing will be held at St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church, 200 Hempstead St., New London, prior to a funeral service. Interment will follow at the Niantic Cemetery on East Pattagansett Road, Niantic.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church, 200 Hempstead St., New London, CT 06320.
