Walter R. Ucci

The Villages, Fla. - Walter R. Ucci died peacefully Aug. 20, 2025, at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Fla., after a months-long battle with cancer. He was 80 years old.

Walter grew up in Noank, and was a graduate of Fitch High School and Mitchell College. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, spending time stationed in Panama, before beginning his professional career. Early on, he worked at Electric Boat and CBT before co-founding Resources Management, a company that became a respected name in the reinsurance industry, serving clients throughout New England.

Walter enjoyed many of life's pleasures, especially those shared with family and friends. He loved traveling, playing cards, and fishing - but above all, he cherished the game of golf. He built his life and home in Wethersfield, where he raised his children and spent many years as an active member of Wethersfield Country Club, forming lasting friendships and playing countless rounds. His passion for golf continued after he moved to The Villages, Fla., where he sometimes celebrated shooting a score lower than his age.

Walter is survived by his wife, Yvonne; his daughters, Lindsay Ritzenthaler and her husband Dan of Ashland, Mass., and Nicole Dittmann and her husband Matt of Colchester; his sister, Judith Legare of Madison, Fla.; his brother, Robert Ucci and his wife Susie of Groton; and his four grandchildren: Lauren, Lucas, Hailey and Isla - who brought him endless joy.

Walter will be remembered for his sharp wit, his great stories, and the joy he brought to those around him.

The family will gather for a private burial at a later date to celebrate his life and memory.
