William Lesinski Obituary

East Lyme - William "Billy" J. Lesinski, lovingly known as "Ski," passed away at home Dec. 25, 2024, at the age of 59. Billy was a cherished husband, a devoted son and brother, a proud stepfather, a beloved uncle and "Papa" to his grandchildren, and a loyal friend to many. His warmth and humor left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.

Born June 18, 1965, in Hartford, Billy was the beloved son of the late William Lesinski Sr. and Lucy Schmitke, who now resides in Sarasota, Fla. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 27 years, Robin Lesinski of East Lyme; his stepdaughter Chelsea Gubbins, and her sons, Gavin and Grayson, also of East Lyme; and his stepson, Eddie Gubbins, along with his wife Cate and their daughter Olivia, of New Hampshire. Billy is also survived by his brother Scott Lesinski and Scott's wife Dawn, of Colchester; as well as their children, Adam and Hunter, who deeply feel his loss.

Billy was a man of simple joys and deep passions. He started each day with the morning paper and a crossword puzzle, greeting the world with his charismatic smile and kind words. Billy was a lover of music and an avid New England Patriots fan who worshipped Tom Brady. He found solace in fishing and hunting and took delight in a competitive game of backgammon. Billy had an extraordinary sense of humor and was renowned for his talent in voice impersonations, often leaving those around him in stitches.

A hardworking and respected man, Billy served as a lieutenant with the Connecticut Department of Corrections before retiring after 21 years. After retirement, he worked at East Lyme Middle School as a custodian, where he was affectionately known as "Mr. Bill." His coworkers and the school community admired his dedication and generous spirit.

Billy's kindness knew no bounds - he would give the shirt off his back to someone in need and think nothing of stopping to help a stranger paint their house. He truly embodied the essence of a "good guy" in every sense of the word. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering generosity that will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege to know him.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Friday Jan. 10, 2025, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand Street, Niantic, a prayer service will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Please visit www.neilanfuneralhome.com to leave the family an online condolence.

Billy was a great friend who I relied on to share stories of my kids as his grandkids are the same age. He loved his grandkids and he loved to be called papa by them. He sat next to every day for 8 years "yo evans"! He was very easy going willing to give his hand to help. I wish we became closer out of work. I´m gonna miss ya Billy love ya man. Sending my prayers and love to Robin and family!
