Amada Garcia Obituary

Amada M. Garcia of Cathedral City, Calif. passed away on May 22, 2010 at the age of 78. Amada was born on September 13, 1931 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Amada was a long time resident of Cathedral City and was well known by many for her kindness, love and generosity. She was a pillar of strength in our lives, her family was the most important part of her life and she enjoyed every moment she shared with them. We will miss her wisdom, humor and incredible life stories. She will be forever treasured in our hearts. Amada was preceded in death by her husband, Herculano B. Garcia; and her son, Abel Garcia. She is survived by her children, Marco Garcia, Oscar Garcia, Jaime Garcia, Delia Ibarra and Mario Garcia; grand-children, Robert Garcia, Monique Tapia, Emma Garcia, Melissa Garcia, Debbie Garcia, Melinda Garcia, Danielle Garcia, Abel H. Garcia, Junior Ibarra, Sabrina Ibarra, Julian Garcia, Jaime E. Garcia, Elizabeth Ibarra; and great-grandchildren, Angelina Tapia, Mia Solis and Luis Meza. We would like to thank all the family and friends for their care giving and support of Amada over the last months. Visitation will be held at Wiefels and Sons, located at 690 S. Vella Road, Palm Springs, CA on Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorial Services will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, located at 2800 E. Ramon Road, Palm Springs, CA on Friday, May 28, 2010 beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial Services will be held immediately thereafter at Palm Springs Cemetery located at 31705 Da Vall Drive in Cathedral City.

"Amada or Amadita" as we lovingly referred to her, was one of the first persons I met when our family came to Palm Springs. She was so caring and friendly; she made me feel better about our move. I was only 9 years old then.
