Sandy and Les,
Brett was in my first class at St. Theresa's. That was 17 years ago. I remember the 5th grade Brett like it was yesterday. He was such an inspirational young boy with so much enthusiasm. I remember the time I watched the kids at your home for 3 days. Ryan and Brett would roughouse, like brothers do, and I was worried about whether Brett would get hurt. I remember Brett telling me, "We do this all the time." Now, a mother of 2 boys, I can only imagine how you must feel. I am so sorry for your loss. I have had many students over the years, but I always remember Brett and his optimistic outlook on life. I will say a prayer for Brett and for your family.

To Les, Sandy, Jennifer and Ryan,

Although it's been over 15 years since I had even seen Brett, I was still shocked when I heard the news of his passing through the proverbial grapevine.

I have many great childhood memories with Brett from our days together in Sagewood. I remember this one day, we were playing catch in his front yard. I badly overthrew him and hit the top of Sandy's car :-). Sandy was so mad...

I also remember one of the scariest days of my childhood was when he had his heart attack during Robby's birthday. But Brett bounced back from that, partly because he was always so incredibly upbeat.

Even though it's been more than 15 years since I moved away to Oregon, I know I will miss him.

Hearts and prayers are with all of his family.

Dear Packer Family and Friends-

What a wonderful son you raised. My memories may be few of Brett, but they all make me smile. He always had a smile on his face and was so happy. He
was intelligent and surrounded himself with wonderful people like himself.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Brett was an important part of our group. He will live on in the stories we tell about him and will continue to make us laugh. Thank you Brett for being you, totally unique, and a positive entity. He was the best of us all. Of all of the people I will meet in my life Brett will always stand out. I will always be so thankful for all of the time I spent with Brett over the years, last summer, and saying goodbye to him the day he left for his surgery.

He sure could shake it on the dance floor!

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very sad time. I can't help but think of this quote, when thinking about Brett.
"I shall pass this way but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do, or any kindness I can show, let me do it now.
Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall never pass this way again."
He was a very special young man and touched so many lives in such a positive way. He will never be forgotten. I'm sure the Lord said to Brett upon his arrival in heaven "Well done, good and faithful servant".
With our love to you all,
Your Cousins,
Nyleen and Mike

Having Brett play on our golf team was a great experience for all of us. His great attitude in spite of all he had and was going through healthwise made all of us appreciate much more the opportunities we had. He was always smiling and enjoying his time around us (not that double-bogeys didn't piss him off) and he made us have more fun. Thank you so much for sharing him with us. Our prayers and condolences are with all of you. He is missed, but his strength will certainly live on with those he came in contact with and he helped make me a better person and coach. Brett will remain in my heart as a special and memorable student (one of my first students in my teaching career). He was bright, witty, and had a great personality. He's an example to smile through all that life has to offer and to live each day fully. He will be missed. Packer family - you are in my prayers.

"Teach us to count the days...teach us to make the days count..." Your beautiful Brett, our beautiful Brett, will live in our hearts forever. Wise beyond years and adorable beyond imagination he touched so many of us with his beautiful smile and infectious (mischievous?)personality. No one could have put so much living into 26 years with every day counting for something. Son and friend but above all, a hero. Thank you Brett for sharing your life with us all.

Brett there are too many memories to mention them all but as one of Robby's best friends growing up we had a great birthday memories, sleep over memories, and some of my fondest were the ones as the coach for the White Sox. Your spirit and that incredible grin where really unsurpassed by any on our team. I am sure the many players that you played with over those years are now able to appreciate what you went through just to play the game. You are and will always be an inspiration to those of us that spent any time around you.
I told your dad that one of the memories that i will have forever is your running down first base line with your arms pumping and those longs legs driving you ever closer to first base. Nothing will erase that memory and all the others as well.
We will all miss you Brett, memories will be with us forever.
Thoughts and Prayers are with you Les, Sandi, Jennifer, and Ryan.

Love you all,Van

To my dear friend Sandi,
As a mother, this has to be the most difficult event in life to deal with. You have always been strong, but you are allowed to grieve and lean on those who care. Please know you and your family are in my thoughts everyday. I wish I could take some of your pain away.

Love, Terri Harris
