Carol Hochsprung Obituary
Rancho Mirage - Carol Joy Hochsprung, 74, of Rancho Mirage, CA died December 26, 2019 at Eisenhower Medical Center. She was surrounded and comforted by her spouse, family and close friends.
Carol was born on October 5,1945 to Edward and Arlene (Ranes) Hochsprung. She grew up in Eastern Washington and graduated from Colfax High School in 1963. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education at the University of Washington, Seattle and continued her education at the University of Colorado in Boulder, receiving her Master's degree in Educational Administration in 1976.
Carol's early professional life included coaching and teaching in the Boulder public schools. Golf was her passion from an early age and in 1979, she earned her credential as an LPGA Instructor and Club Professional. For a dozen years, Carol held various golf instruction positions in the Denver area and was the head golf professional at Willow Springs C.C.
In 1990, Carol relocated to the desert and has been a Rancho Mirage resident for 29 years. She held golf management positions at Cathedral Canyon C.C. and Indian Palms C.C.
Carol met her life partner of 29 years, JB Kemp, at an LPGA business function, and they eventually married. Together they began investing in real estate and Carol subsequently pursued a career as a real estate agent. Her association with her family of professionals at Bennion Deville Real Estate in the desert brought her great satisfaction and success.
Carol had many interests through which she touched so many lives, including: she was a popular yoga instructor; President of her community association and a past Trader Joe's crew member. Carol was devoted to the practice of Thai Chi and meditation and was a member of the Threshold Choir, which sings bedside for hospice. She enjoyed travel and was passionate about golf, camping & hiking with friends. Carol always had an amazingly honest, vulnerable, full-of-life attitude. Her outgoing & positive presence had a tremendous impact on everyone she encountered.
She is survived by her loving spouse, Jo Beth Kemp of Rancho Mirage; brother Bruce (Charlyn) Hochsprung of Colfax, WA; niece Heather (Eric) Meyer and children Regan, Rosie, Emilia and Lizzie of Moscow, ID; nephew Brock (Julie) Hochsprung and children Eddy, Alex and Hannah of Bellingham, WA; sister- in-law Amy (Mario) Amparan of Beaumont, CA; sister-in-law Margie Kemp of Carterville, IL; brother-in-law Mike Kemp of Henry, IL; and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Center for Spiritual Living, 45-630 Portola Ave., Palm Desert, CA with Dr. Joe Hooper officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Center for Spiritual Living in Palm Desert.

Jo Beth,
I had no idea of Carol's passing until I saw obituary on LPGA Facebook. I am so saddened that dear Carol is gone.
She was a wonderful person, who was always kind to me.
Please know that you and your family and friends are in my thoughts.

Carol, Jumper, was a great friend for 48 years. We shared experiences starting in Boulder '72 and although we hadn't seen each other in a while, we talked on the phone and always picked up where we left off. She lived her middle name, Joy, and was a shinning light and I was blessed to have her share in my life journey.

Carol was a senior at the University of Washington when I was a freshman. We met playing field hockey. I was goalie for our team and can remember how hard Carol hit the ball at me in practice. I asked her the secret to her hitting and she said golf.' Even though in field hockey the stick couldn't go above the shoulder, her wrists snapped the club just at the right time for the ball to explode toward her target.
Years later I reconnected with her in the desert as both of us were golf professionals. We were in touch off and on at various places and were able to pick up where we had last. I also know her wonderful partner/wife, JB. My deepest sympathy to family and friends.
