Danny Parker Obituary

Danny Parker, a lifelong resident of the Coachella Valley, passed away on December 15, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Danny married Linda Johnson in 1986 and they shared the past 27 years in their Indio home. He enjoyed vacations in Hawaii, visiting family in the Puget Sound area, and weekends at Glamis in his jeep. The daily routine of early mornings at Starbucks with good friends was evidence of his zest for life. Danny truly loved life and didn't waste a minute of his. Danny was an excellent athlete and a stand out football player at Coachella Valley high school. Upon graduation he honorably served four years in the United States Army. Danny Parker is survived by his wife Linda, sister Terry of Salton Sea, mother-in-law Beverly of Indio, step-daughters Carrie Huff and Suzzane Almont both of Port Orchard, Wash., six grandchildren and many, many friends in this Valley. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Graveside services will be held at the Coachella Valley cemetery on January 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.

Last time we saw each other, Danny Parker was part of the group that celebrated one of the best of our CV High School reunions on a cruise to Mexico on May 2006. That special reunion featured a special performance by former CV recording artist, Alan O'Day, who also passed away last year. I spoke much with Danny on that cruise, reminiscing about our CV days and his athletic prowess. See you again soon, Danny. You were always a class act.

Since Danny escorted me on my 1st date in the 1950s, I will always have fond memories of him. I'm very grateful I was able to see and talk with him during CVs Fabulous '50s Reunion in 2010. I can't remember ever seeing Danny without that big smile on his face. My deepest sympathy for his family.

Linda & Family: It is so sad that another of our dear friends from CVHS has passed. I have numerous fond memories of Danny while in school and the years since. I was so sad to hear of his illness and took every opportunity I could to see him. Recently I was at a mutual friend's home when Danny drove up in that beautiful pick/up truck. It was obvious that he wasn't feeling well but he still gave me that big smile as always. Danny ... you will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

Danny Parker,a great person to know, and have as part of your life. I remember when in HS at CV Danny and I went to San Diego in his Low 'n Fast '55 Chevy, to visit a couple of friends from Indio who were staying at the beach during the summer. On our trip back home Danny let me drive because he was tired. I was so excited I lost all since of direction, Danny got to sleep, and I got lost. Made it all the way to Harbor Blvd & Ball in Anahiem (Disneyland) before he woke up and got me turned around, and headed in the right direction. A 1 1/2 hour trip took us 6 hours. That was just fine with me, because I was with the Coolest guy in School, and driving the Coolest car on the Planet. We will all miss you, and pray that God will Bless and Keep you.
Your Pal, Danny Yowell

Danny will missed greatly by all who knew him. To my children he was Grandpa Danny, to me he was Golden. I admired his generosity and kindness, and mostly his "Let's do it, man" attitude. I'll cherish my memories, especially Christmas in Levenworth, WA with Danny and Linda. My father-in-law had many friends and I encourage you to share a message or a memory. God Bless.
