David Eliseo Obituary

June 18, 1948-March 15, 2010 David R. Eliseo died March 15, 2010 at his home in Palm Springs, Calif. David was born to parents Marie and Anthony Eliseo in New Haven, Conn. He was a graduate of North Eastern University, and was employed as a Connecticut state Parole Officer while he earned his Masters in Counseling from Connecticut State University. David had many careers in his lifetime. He owned and operated a guest house and travel company in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, co-owner of a flower shop in Provincetown, Ma, a caterer in Los Angeles, yet his most fulfilling occupation was that of a licensed marriage and family therapist. David had traveled the world, his atlas by his bed to inspire his dreams, and after visiting Palm Springs in the 80's he knew one day he would live in the desert. Moving to Palm Springs, in 2004, David was employed at Child Help in Beaumont as a resident counselor. In addition to many friends on both coasts, David leaves behind his father, Anthony of East Haven, Conn.; his daughters, Jana and Lauren of Connecticut and Long Island; his partner of 15 years, Martin Johnson of Palm Springs; and most beloved, his three grandchildren, Rocco, Trevan, and Katie of Long Island. Services in Palm Springs will be private.

I met David when I worked so long ago during the Summer of 2001 on the outreach project for Provincetion AIDS Support Group. He brought some calm to an otherwise difficult time for me, and his personal yet professional touch was so very valuable to me. His caring came through with the way he listened and the advice he rendered. I've thought about him often, and am saddened with his passing.

David--we knew each other since we were in high school. You gave me two beautiful children and three wonderful grandchildren. You were a true friend and kind and loving person. You will be greatly missed by many. I will make sure Rocco, Trevan, and Katie never forget you. Rest in peace.
Love, Louise

Dear Lauren, Jana, and Tony,
I discovered your father's/son's death today quite by accident. So young, so sad. I'm sure David would say my discovery is no coincidence at all. Needless to say, I was quite shocked since I have not been in touch with any of you after David and I ended our 8 year partnership in 1988 (forgive me if my memory is a bit off). Those were very special years that we all spent together. So many weekends and vacations on the beach. Our incredible, handsome, dog Dupa kept us laughing and I so often remember us on the Truro beach, when we placed a paper plate "crown" on his canine head and he had us and the entire beach full of people laughing with great joy. We certainly did laugh alot, and David ensured that we did. You're all (Tony, Marie, Lauren, Jana, Dupa) a bunch of very dear memories for me, and these have always and forever will be alive and close to my heart. My deepest sympathy to you all, and thank you so much for all those one-of-a-kind memories that will forever remain in my heart and soul.
Much love to and thanks to you all.

Hi Martin,

I was saddened to read about David in the Banner a few weeks ago. He was such a wonderful man. I took a walk on the bay a few days later and found myself thinking of the first time David and I really met. It was in front of the Boatslip; he was walking Straw and I was walking Scout. I remember thinking he was so cool. I also think he gave a lot to P'town and helped a number a people here, young and old. He will be missed.

Take care, and I hope you're doing okay in this difficult time.

Lauren and Jana, I am so sorry for your loss! I really liked your Dad a lot. He was a Great guy to hang out and talk to whenever I would see him, he always offered me a place to stay no matter where he was, Caribbean, Cape,California. When I saw him at Christmas he told me to be sure and call him when I go to LA and stop and see him.

I did not realize that he was a Drug and Alcohol therapist. I am sure that he has touched and even SAVED so many peoples lives. My thoughts and Prayers are with you guys. Im not really sure If I know Martin or not but he is also in my prayers, I am so sorry for your lost. From what I am reading David had an AMAZING life and I am sorry that he lost it so young.

Darling David, I will miss you while awake and see you in my dreams. Love, Your Poodle, Martin
