I thought of my sweet, dear friend who I loved and had so much free spirited fun with at the U of A and wanted to reconnect to her... I didn't know you were gone Dawn and I'm feeling very sad. You were such a beautiful young woman and that free spirit must be doing even greater things somewhere else... love, love, love and deep sorrow to your loved ones who miss you so. Kelsey. You're Momma treasured you like no other! She always had a smile, no matter what was going on in her own life, when ever she spoke of you. She'd get so excited telling us what you were doing in school and she worried about you all the time. You were everything to her. You were the one true love of your momma's life. Please never ever doubt that for even a second. I love you sweet girl! So does Blakesley.

Kelly Jo, Kelsey, Mom & Dad.

There are no words I can say that will help you, I know. I will tell you that everything in my life in someway has to do w/ Dawn. I've known her, and known her well, for 25 years. My greatest memories in life come from times w/ her. Dawn gave the love she craved to everyone she cared for. A couple Summers ago, Kelsey and Dawn came to La Jolla to see us. That night Kelsey and my daughter, Dawn and I got a room at a hotel on the ocean so we could have mother/daughter time. It was great! Dawn and I shared 1 bed and the girls were in the other. The girls tried to go to sleep but every 5 minutes they'd burst out laughing. We tried to calm them down as it got later and later, but finally Dawn said,"incase tomorrow never comes let's just let them be how we were when we were that age." So we did. Their laughing kept on until sunrise and Dawn and I started laughing too. Our daughters were so very much like we had been. I can hear Dawn's laugh, I can picture her curly top and all the love and joy that came w/ her. The world is a less joyful place because Dawn's not here. She loved all of you more than you know. You may not have felt that you were the most important people in her lives, but I promise you heart and soul, other things distracted her, but through out the 25 years we were friends, everything in her life always came back to her love for her family. I too have lost a daughter, Shelby Jo. I know that Shelby Jo and Dawn are safe now. I still haven't figured out the Heaven and God thing enough to say 1 way or another, but I just know that they are safe and no one and nothing can hurt them anymore. My love and support to all of you. You, and of course, Dawn, will always hold a very special place in my heart.

I remember looking at Dawn in class, watching her twirl her curl as she had her head tilted to the left. I used to wish that I was as pretty and popular as she was. I also remember Dawn had the most beautiful hand writing and felt honored when "I" was one of the lucky ones she would pass a note to during class. She never let her looks or popularity go to her head, she was a sweetheart.

It will be the little things
that you will remember,
the quiet moments,
the smiles, the laughter.
And although it may seem
hard right now,
it will be the memories
of these little things
that help to push
away the pain
and bring the smiles
back again.

With Loving Memories

There are few people that have the ability to be both popular & humble. Dawn possessed the grace to pull off both with ease.

She was extremely pleasant throughout all of our years at Raytown South & had an aura that truly drew others to her.

I can't believe she is gone.
I'm honored to have known her.

May fond memories help ease the pain in time.

God Bless~

Dawn and Kelly Jo Dearing (KJD): seems like yesterday we rode in either Dawns red honda accord hatchback or KJD's silver honda accord hatchback thru the streets of Raytown in 84-85. We loved listening to music waiting for our Ray South basketball player boyfriends to finish practice so we could go to the HS football game or Funhouse Pizza. RIP Dawn you were one of a kind, you made being tiny and petite sexy! KJD please stay involved in Kelsey's life, you and Dawn are one and Kelsey needs you now!

Dawn was truly a special person! We attended elementary, junior and high school together. She was so bubbly and very outgoing. I will always remember fondly the way she befriended me, the new girl, as I had started third grade in a new school. Slumber parties in junior high were exceptionally memorable. Such fun times we girls had together! What a warm, friendly, and accepting individual. She will be missed!!

Bob, Marilyn, Kelly Jo, and Kelsey please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time. Please find comfort in the fact that Dawn touched many lives and is remembered so dearly.

My friend Dawn made me laugh and see the world in a different light. I have missed her for so long. I never had a chance to tell her how much she meant to me. She was truly a special person. In the hard times she always had something positive and kind to say about everyone and everything. I will always remember the wonderful person. The beautiful smile and the laughter we shared. Bob, Marilyn, and Kelly Jo:
I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Dawn. As Junior High girls I remember wishing I had the bravery to be as outgoing and passionate about life as she was. And though we weren't as close through the high school years, I remember the way she twisted the same lock of her hair while taking notes (or pretending to) in class... and the way her genuine smile lit up a room... And though she was slight in stature, her personality sometimes seemed larger than life.

I pray that you and Kelsey are comforted by the knowledge that Dawn is fondly remembered by so many. May the peace and presence of the Lord envelope you as you grieve your loss, and may His strength gird you up as you press on in her absence. My condolences to your family.

Bob and Marilyn, and to all in your family, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I went to grade school with Dawn, and though we were good friends for only two years before we went on to separate schools, I have thought of her fondly and often. My family and I have often talked about my times with Dawn (my parents own Cole Pest Control), and I've kept up to date with her life. She was a great gift and I hope the knowledge of that will help you during this difficult time. We will hold you close in our thoughts and prayers.
