Palm Desert - Doris Keniry, 85, of Palm Desert, California, passed away unexpectedly on June 10, 2021.

She was born in New York, New York on June 13,1935 to Roscoe and Gladys Hansford. She is predeceased by her parents, Aunt Alice and her loving husband of 40 years, 'Jack' A. Keniry.

Doris was fond of her rescue dachshund Woody, who joined the family 3 years ago after losing Maggie, also a rescue dachshund

Doris was a Grant Administrator for The Ford Foundation, a philanthropic organization, for 27 years.

After moving from New York, Doris and Jack resided in Palm Desert for over 20 years. They enjoyed the surrounding environment and cultural activities. Doris was a member of Mensa International and became very involved in her community. She was active in St. John's Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Eucharistic Visiting team bringing communion to homebound congregants, participated in the FIND food distribution program and read scriptures during worship services. Doris was also a member of the weekly Bible study group.

Doris belonged to the International Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsmen. She shared her talents by participating in the Healing Harps volunteer program at Eisenhower Medical Center. She also enjoyed mentoring and tutoring local grade school students.

Doris was loved and appreciated by everyone she encountered. Doris' gentle caring, and compassionate personality will be missed by those she touched.

Doris is survived by her sister- in- law, Theresa Stimpfl, nieces, Kathryn (John) Maguire, Ann Stimpfl, Maureen (Frank) Fox and nephews Richard (Robin) Stimpfl and Paul (MaryKay) Stimpfl. The family expresses gratitude and appreciation for Jenn Turner, her best friend for the past ten years who was by her side during her last days.
