Dorothy DeWeese Obituary

Dottie DeWeese, born Jeanne d'Arc Renaud on November 24, 1925, in Hartford, Conn. to Ernest Renaud and Dora Tardif, passed away March 12, 2011 in Palm Desert, Calif. Dottie grew up on the East Coast, graduated from AB Davis High School, Mt Vernon, N.Y., as a cheerleader and was awarded the Nat'l Honor Society Medal, and attended Business Schools in New York and California (her first job was with NY Rubber Corp in the Empire State Bldg). She got her Real Estate License in 1968. She married Robert (Bob) F. DeWeese on May 28, 1945, a radioman on the USS Hoe submarine. The couple raised their five children throughout the U.S. and Canada and later retired to Palm Desert (with a second home in Oregon), where Dottie enjoyed golf (with a hole-in-one, 4th hole of PDGCC), gardening, bowling, dancing and bocce ball. Dottie worked some but primarily was a homemaker and mother, the biggest job of all! Dottie was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis; her sons, Robert and Dennis; and her husband, Bob of 56 years. Dottie is survived by her daughters, Paulette Quaid (Greg), Jeanne DeWeese and Ellen Lawson (Bob); grandchildren, Kenny LaBarbera, Asia DeWeese, Kelly DeWeese Wise and Aaron Powers; great grandchildren, Kai and Keely LaBarbera; sisters, Georgette Brown and Kelly Gaudios; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Christ of the Desert Chapel, Palm Desert, with a July inurnment in Oregon. The family requests contributions to The American Lung Association.
